Longines Watches (E.g L29104926 for $2450 Save $1250) @ Gregory Jewellers

220

Some very decent prices from Gregory Jewellers for really nice time pieces.
They may not be cheap as most watches listed here but their watch are decent with the title model having an annual calendar. (auto adjust date at start of each month except end of February where a manual adjustment will be needed)
I believe this model has been superceded with a 42mm 72 hour model but same appearance. New model costs $3825.

    That is a beautiful blue.

    • 2k please

      • Will you accept a peanut?

        • +1

I already hv 2 peanuts so no thanks

          • +2

@HolyCr4p: Accepting another peanut will give you a massive 50% boost to your current wealth. Where else can you find such a lucrative deal?

      • It was during boxing day/early Jan sale.

    • Completely agree. My Longines has a similar blue sunray dial and it's gorgeous

      • My Rolex has a green dial which I’m not so into it but what else can I complain, it’s a Rolex.

        • You can always get your money back by selling it and buy something like a milgauss.

        • My AP is blue, it's not quite green .. but hey it tells the time.

          • @tka: My wall clock is blue, it's not quite green. But hey it tells the time.

My Bugatti isn’t a watch, but I thought I’d mention it since we’re bragging.

          • @zonra: I would have thought you were more a Pagani guy with your username being Zonr(d)a

Cheaper than a Nvidia 4090. This is a steal. 🤣

      I think it's steel

For reference on how the blue looks like this is a photo of my watches with the blue compared to my grand Seiko and the ball.

      Nice collection you have there.

Which one gets the most wear?

      • +1

I've got more than those but they are my blues lol.
My fav is my grand Seiko, but my Frederique Constant gets the most wear.
I bought my ball after this image so it's not there and have asked my wife to transfer her watches to her jewellry box.

          Love that collection!!

I have a Frederique Constant as well, but haven’t worn it since getting the Aqua Terra. I’m missing it now though, but it is needing a new band. Any recommendations on where I should look and buy?

          • @bugsbunny: Hahaha my boss wants to buy the Aqua Terra small second in green I told him to go for it but I think he isn't as liberal in spending on a watch as I am.
Honestly don't know where yet as my band is still perfect. I have enough watches to make the collection last longer from wear and tear

            • +1

@maverickjohn: Tell him to do it - he’s going to get so much joy wearing it haha.

Your pics of your watch has made me search. Going to get a band on it hopefully soon.

    Nice collection.

PS this is a collection, not some random mumbo jumbo from David jones

  • I like your avatar, so any deal for Grand Seiko?

    • +1

I wish I could provide a deal for Grand Seiko. But Grand Seiko has reigned in all watch supply to their boutique store. So no one really sells their line anymore. I was lucky and bought mine from an authorised dealer before the removal of all their products from the ADs
Every watch I have bought I got on sale and never paid full price. It's much harder for GS now

      • +1

Speak to Vincent from Wamada Jewellery. They carry GS in their store and will give you great discount.

Or if you manage to visit Japan. GS discount is crazy over there.

        • Thanks I might actually do that

        • Hi mate, I visited Wamada approx four years ago and they can only provide about 15% off. Can Vincent provide more discounts?

      • Hi, could you tell me what the normal discounts are for IWC?

        • Haven't bought one but I'd say you could probably get 15% comfortably from an AD.
Bondi junction Gregory sell IWC maybe give them a call and see what they can do. I got offered 15% without too much effort for a Breitling from gregory.
I got my ball and GS for 25% off from Nader jewellers in Parra.
Got my Frederique for 50% off from Nader's as well.
          Longines was 25% from linda

          • +1

@maverickjohn: thanks, my fault, I thought you are associated with Gregory and post this deal…LOL

  • Anyone know the best way of getting a Hydroconquest? Would it be cheaper through a third party store or through longines?

    • From experience authorised dealers will always give you better discounts

    • +1

Longines boutique don't give disocunt. They do give you "gifts" when you buy from them.

Authorised Dealers do sales and discount on full priced items.

Byuing experience with AD is crap though compare to buying from boutique.

      • 100% this. Boutique stores treat you like a person of importance ADs just want to make sales. But your pocket is not as light by going through AD

    • +1

I reckon you go to the most bare-bones jeweller that stocks Longines and just hit them up for as big a discount as you can. Many retailers stock Longines and the prices are a bit fat, so there is a decent amount of wiggle room.

If you do your research and have a price in mind, just tell them that's your price and see what they do. Especially in-store, you can tell if you are close because they won't want you to walk out without discussing it further. If you get that reaction, just keep hammering that price you want and tell them it's fine, you'll leave if they can't meet it. Even better if you've already got an offer from another jeweller that you can reference / leverage. E.g. go into Linda's and tell them about that great deal Mazzuchelli's will give you.

The boutique - they literally don't care, they have no interest at all in haggling.

And if you strike it up with the AD, they are likely to offer you discounts faster next time around, if they think you'll be a repeat customer.

    • check out the store - vintagewatchco. Few years back from memory they do good deals for longines. They may not have the full range of Longines though.

Longines has/is rolling out a 5% price hike this year, so get in asap if you want one.

  • +2

Just beautiful I love Longines watches

  • +1

Damn, would be all over it if the interest rate wasn't so high

  • +1

I managed to get a 40mm Spirit for $2,400 from Mazzuchelli's at Boxing Day which I was pretty thrilled about. Although that was before the recent price hike so these prices could be as good as it gets for a while.

    • Yeah if you didn't buy during 2022 Black Friday/Boxing Day sales, wait for the economic downturn later this year and pick up some on the used market on the cheap, already seeing signs of increased supply and price drops.

  • I have to say, I am not impressed with my automatic Longines. I love the look of it, and its comfortable to wear and easy to read, however it doesn't keep time. It keeps getting magnetised and speeds up. I sent it back to Longines twice in a 6 month period, after owning it not quite a year, and they told me I am using too many electronic devices, and that is what is causing it to speed up. (I use a laptop and a phone, I am right handed, and wear my watch on my left hand) I don't work, so I might use my computer for 2-3 hours a day, max. so, I am unsure of how this would cause the watch to be magnitised. Ended up buying my own de-magnetiser to do it myself because Longines refuse to repair or acknowledge that there may be a problem with the watch, rather than my usage. It starts gaining time 2 weeks after it is de-magnetised. I now wear a $100 garmin smart watch instead. for reference, my husband has and wears an automatic watch every day, and works in IT. His desk looks like you could control a whole country from it with all of the electronic devices.. and he works 8-10 hours a day from there, 5 days a week, plus a few hours over the weekend (work from home). He has never had an issue with his watch.

    • Mine definitely doesn't have the same issue. I'm not sure if the movement is significantly better in the spirit series as they are COSC but mine keeps time extremely well
