Damn it I just bought 3 of these the other day for $45

They haven't been 120 for a long time.

Also bear in mind I have replaced the first one of these I got twice under warranty. But they are still good.

    • What were the problems you experienced?

The mechanical mechanism broke so all the treats would drop out.

The spring which fires the treats broke.

    • Damn, they're legit sitting at 120 now.. :-(

I mean, I wouldn't even have minded fiddling around with this one for $45..

  • "HD" Camera, ie 720p at best, see your pet in pixels.

    • 1080 fwiw

      • Can you confirm it it 1080 FHD?

dont buy it on my word mate but the manual says 1080

@191919: Yeah just saw the 1080 in the user specs at the back of the guide. 1080 is fairly decent.

  • How long could this keep a 55kg dog alive for.

  • Grabbed one to play around with.

I haven't used any of the Kogan Smart Home devices before. Anyone know if they can be integrated into Home Assistant? I'm thinking if I can get it into there, I can link it to a spare Xiaomi button I have so that it dispenses a treat when it is pressed. Then see how long it takes to train the dog to press it and get her own treats.

    • Their other products use Tuya so have purchased this to give it a go and see if there is Tuya and HA integration too.

    • As mentioned most of their stuff is Tuya - the Tuya integration for pet stuff feeders though was not super, so you might have to do a bit of work to get it going.

    • Then see how long it takes to train the dog to press it and get her own treats.

Nice. Plz update once u achive this

      • Step 1 is done. The dispenser itself was very easy to set up in the Tuya app.
Then to link to HA was moderately easy following a guide online for creating a Tuya IOT account.
Then you create a Scene in the Tuya app and make a tap to run automation to dispense a treat. Home Assistant recognises that as a scene it can activate.
Then you just create an automation on a button press to activate the scene and it works.

I got all this set up in my 30 min lunch break so probably the smoothest new HA setup I've had.

Next is to give her access to the button.

  • Does this work with Google?

    Hey Google, feed the dragon

    • No it doesn't. I haven't been able to get it to anyway. Only via Tuya

    • Might be worth investigating IFTTT integration between Google and Tuya.

  • What are my odds of flashing this with something that doesn't require the internet for automation?

  • Won't this just upset my dog?

  • So AusPost delivered this to the wrong address, and Kogan charged me for a year of First even though every time I went to cancel, it said I wasn't subscribed.

    • I got the First subscription refunded. Still waiting to hear back from AusPost over 2 weeks later.

      • AusPost confirmed they lost it. Kogan are sending a replacement.
