Worse case, you can easily replace with an AU Figure-8 Cable.

    • Yeah ofc, tbh I kind of want it to come with a US one, as I'm planning on using this as a travel charger (just bring appropriate figure 8 cable depending on country)

This looks similar to the Zyron Deskpod 156W currently $72.49 at amazon except with slightly higher maximum total (156W on zyron vs 165W on Satechi).

    • Yeah I mean it is similar, although satechi has 4 usb c ports and a better wattage breakdown imo. It is way more expensive though..

    • +1

Maximum with 2 connected is different. This one 100W/60W. Zyron 60W/60W.

    • Brand. I don't trust Zyron yet.

Also, the zyron ships from Amazon not Amazon AU? What does this mean for A-tick compliance?

I posted it because I have one myself and use it 3 days a week at work. Haven't had any issues yet and charges my laptop at 100W and phone.

What is a good website for teardown of chargers?

            @kubernetesxp:

… haven't seen dedicated charger teardown site

There is a ChargerLAB on YouTube dedicated for that.

I've a completely different product from this company and it is extremely well made, came in decent packaging and is flawless. If that helps sway any opinions on them being shady.

Bit pricey, but worth it for the absence of USB-A ports, which are useless to me now.

  • +3

I'd only get this over the following for half the price is if I really needed all four ports at >18W, more than two USB-Cs at 60W apiece or really needed the slightly smaller size.

Anyway… I have one of these and it hasn't missed a beat:
    Zyron Deskpod 156W

For an insignificantly cheaper price per port, you can get the six port model at https://satechi.net/products/6-port-gan-charger?variant=4019… - you have to choose the US cord, but I've confirmed that it is only the plug that is different to the AU model.

If you add that to your cart (logged in) they will eventually send you a 15% coupon for a total of about AUD$223 delivered. You just need to supply your own C5 cord (not figure-8).

    • That's a lot more.

With 6 ports I'd rather one was on the back. For things like monitor mounted lights etc.

This new charger supports 140W power delivery on port 1 and 2. 👍

    • +1

Yeah, code DONATE is 20% off as well, quite a bit more cause shipping to regional NSW

    • Just FYI / FWIW, this new 6-port 200W charger supports PPS, while the 4-port 165W charger doesnt. In case that is impoetant for anyone!

(Not sure what rates of PPS it does - eg. whether it will do Samsung 45W PPS - but it lists PPS is supported in the specs.)

      • +1

The 165w does. "Super fast charges" my Samsung S20FE. A quick google search suggests that it will also do 45w - Reddit .

        • Ah cool! Strange they don't list it in the specs (but do for the new one!).

  • I have this charger and have been very happy with it. I will mention though while this charger may be very compact it's on the heavy side, so don't buy it expecting it to be as light as a feather.

JBHIFI also stocks this product too, so it must be half way decent, can't have them burning peoples homes down right?
