Will Officeworks Price Beat a Google Pixel 6A Sold by a Third Party Seller on Catch Marketplace?

Has anyone had any experience in getting Officeworks to price beat something like this from Catch.com.au?

Thanks in advance

I presume they only price match if it's sold and delivered by Catch similar to how OW only price match Amazon if it is sold and delivered from Amazon AU.

  • I was just looking in to this after missing the telstra deal. Local OW said no

Check reviews, overseas stock. No way OW will price match

Not necessarily, mate. If you search (I really CBFed finding it but will if you can't) there was a huge forum discussion about this, in 2020, upon Officeworks changing their price beat terms to no longer exclude grey imports/overseas stock. BUT - it needs to be the same model number. If the model number is different, they won't price beat it which is understandable.

In reality - my experience with this has been very poor, in stores. They still say grey imports/overseas stock is excluded - even talking to the Manager often doesn't change their decision, despite also referring them to read their own price beat policy. Your best option is to call their main Customer Service line (1300 OFFICE (633 423)) which is how I got them to price beat Kogan for a wifi mesh router system back in 2022. The Manager of a local store told me that Kogan was a grey importer/selling only overseas stock, despite me showing them that Kogan was an authorised retailer, on the manufacturer's website (it wasn't a Kogan marketplace item - sold by Kogan directly, item in Australia). To prove a point, I called the Officeworks number whilst in store and then told the Manager on the way out they were wrong and the item was price beat and they just said thanks and walked away. Classic…

      • By overseas I mean that people were literally getting other country's power plugs, not even as same as a grey import

Tbf this phone doesn't even come with a power plug at all.

I've never had a problem getting a price beat at OW that was within their rules.

        • If they're paid a commission then it literally is.

At a former role in an electronics retail chain, you had to maintain a certain margin % to qualify for commission for the month. Any big sales (Eofy, Boxing day, etc) would push your margin % way lower :(

Although 'no' is the consensus so far, I must ask - why not just ask Officeworks?

Now now, settle down…. You wouldn't want to go do anything crazy like that!

    Nope, different model numbers.

Catch is GA03715-GB, while Officeworks is GA02998-GB

      different model numbers.

That's the first thing they check.

  • Can you list your own (fake) products on Catch AU at cheap prices, and then get Aus sellers to price match ;-)

  • I'm not sure about that particular situation but I nearly got OW to price match a ridiculously good price (about $400 less than their sale) from a sketchy online site. OW can only price match for the same item with shipping included. So double check the model number and delivery terms on the site

I only missed out because the online phone came with 1 year warranty and the OW one came with 2 years.

Yes they did, I just called and ordered one
Below 2 have a match on the model number and they agreed.
