Best Gaming Monitor Suggestion for My Laptop (Budget ~$300)

Casual gamer here. I play games like FIFA, F1, Dying Light, Resident Evil…

My current gaming laptop is this: Lenovo 5 Pro 16ITH6H
- 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz
- 16GB RAM
- Geforce RTX 3070 GPU

Now I love my laptop screen, but I need something bigger. Thinking around 27-31 inch.

Can someone please suggest some monitors for me.

Thank you.

    • Geforce RTX 3070 GPU

do you have a DP ? or at least HDMI port is directly soldered to RTX GPU ? it will limit max res/refresh rate

    • I have a Legion 7 but I’m pretty sure Legion 5 also has a mux to disable iGPU.
Should have a direction connection to the dGPU with HDMI. You need to use a USB-C to DP cable for DisplayPort connection

    • No I don't have a DP. Unsure if HDMI port is directly soldered to GPU, but I'll take Firerunners advice that it is!

  • The screen on the Legion 5 Pro is one of the best for a laptop. WQXGA (2560x1600), 165Hz, IPS, 500nit display.
You'd want something similar otherwise it will feel like a downgrade playing on the monitor
So I'd recommend a 1440p, 144Hz, IPS display. Unfortunately you'd need to increase your budget for something like that. Probably around $400
Otherwise you'll need to compromise with either resolution, refresh rate or panel quality.

  • Thanks for the input. Could you recommend a monitor with those specs? I am happy to wait and get something around that price range when it goes on sale, or i could have a look in the second hand market.
