I was wondering if it is possible to use Coles Mastercard gift card or woolworths (The Perfect Gift Card) to buy another gift card at woolworths or Coles let say (I want to buy The Ultimate Gift Card or Apple gift card at coles using The Perfect Gift Card or Apple gift card from Woolwoths and Coles Mastercard Gift Card to buy The Ultimate Gift Card or Apple Gift card at Woolworths )

It says use anywhere mastercard is accepted, but we know that's not true.
Yes, it works. If you are doing it at a manned checkout, don't make the mistake of asking them if you can use the card. Just use it, and it will be fine. If you ask, you'll most likely be told it cant be done

Coles MC - yes
Perfect EFTPOS - no (They've been BIN blocked).
At Coles, just don't let the staff see, they've been notified to keep an eye out for people using giftcards to pay for giftcards.

Using Perfect EFTPOS gift card to buy another gift card at Woolworths (instore)
Woolworths has coded in restrictions in their checkouts on the use of Perfect EFTPOS gift cards in their stores, which means you cannot use one to purchase the following types of gift cards:
Perfect EFTPOS gift card
OnlyONE Visa gift card
Activ Visa gift card
Any gift cards issued by Woolworths Group (e.g. WISH, Woolworths Supermarkets, BWS)
eBay gift card - this actually happened for the older Perfect EFTPOS gift card with card number starting with 502125, but I have not verified whether the same happens for the newer version with card number starting with 638947
I had no problems using a Perfect EFTPOS gift card to purchase an Ultimate gift card at Woolworths around September or October 2022, but I've also had one person after that time tell me that they could not use a Perfect EFTPOS gift card to pay for an Ultimate gift card, but it was unclear whether it was Woolworths (the merchant) or Blackhawk Network (the issuer) rejecting the payment request. I think you will be fine using it to pay for gift cards not in the list above, but as I find myself saying a lot in this comment, Woolworths could have recently brought in more restrictions that I do not know about…
It should work, but i cannot guarantee it will actually work at Woolworths.
It should work at BIG W too, but again, I cannot guarantee it will actually work! I find that BIG W is generally less restrictive than Woolworths when it comes to payment methods.
The only reason OzBargain knows about these restrictions is due to people testing to see whether a particular payment method is accepted or rejected.

Hi whilst I’ve not tried in store, I have used them as payment online. You just add the gift card to your PayPal account (and select the card as the preferred payment method) and then select PayPal as the payment method when buying online
Hmm, adding a Coles Mastercard Prepaid Gift card to PayPal isn't working for me today.
Says "This card has been declined. Try a different payment method or contact the card issuer".
Used to work fine.
Been having this issue for a few days. Also all transactions online are being blocked.
Definitely balance available on the cards.

I am not aware of any restrictions Woolworths has placed in their stores' checkouts on Coles Mastercard gift cards. Admittedly, it has been many months since I last used a Coles Mastercard gift card at Woolworths, so I don't know whether the checkouts have been updated in the meantime…
However, as @stralya has already pointed out above, if staff realise that you are trying to use a prepaid gift card to pay for a gift card, they may stop you.

Woolworths Group sometimes refuses to process payments from Coles Mastercard gift cards on their online gift card portal. The only way you can reliably use a Coles Mastercard gift card on the portal is to first link the Coles Mastercard gift card to PayPal, then use PayPal as the payment method.
Using Coles Mastercard gift card to buy another gift card at Coles (instore)
Officially speaking, you are not allowed to use a Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase any gift cards at Coles. In reality:
You cannot use a Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase a Coles Mastercard gift card. You will get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal.
I believe you cannot use a Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase a Vanilla Visa gift card, as you should get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal.
You should be okay using a Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase any other gift card at Coles, as long as staff don't realise that you are trying to use a Coles Mastercard gift card as a payment method. However, I haven't used a Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase a gift card at Coles since the last 10% off Vanilla Visa gift card deal in September 2022, so things could have changed in the meantime.

Awesome updated info on Coles MC and purchasing Coles MC/Vanilla Visa. It used to be that they were not blocked but seems Coles have finally woken up. (Last time I tried this was the promo before the 10% off Vanilla in September 2022).
