  • So while Smith's is playing with new Chip flavours, they quietly destroy the iconic Twistees flavour, one of my all-time favourite snacks, to the point where I leave them off my shopping list. Now bland and almost tasteless.

    • I've stopped buying my all time favourite chicken twistie, they have definitely gone far far downhill, to the point, I lost all cravings for them, even when half price.

      • I here you brother. R.I.P to something that once was great…

Be careful. I tried to claim the QR code at my local Subway after they'd made my order and the code wasn't accepted at that store so ended up paying full price which near killed me as I'm such a tightass.

I was pretty pissed off as there's no list of participating stores.

I had a whinge to Subway and this is their BS response:

    Hi Goldberg,

All Subway® restaurants are individually owned and operated by franchise owners, and as a small business they may choose whether or not to participate in advertising campaigns. Subway® advertisement will usually include a disclaimer which indicates that prices and participation may vary. Unfortunately, we do not have a list of participating stores.

To check if a restaurant is participating in a promotion or not, we would recommend asking the staff in store before placing your order or calling the restaurant ahead of your planned visit to ask if they are participating in the promotion.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

Not a good look for the promo, should at least have a list of participating stores if its not available at all of them

Just walk out and dont pay.
      Have done that multiple times

      • I think we've all done that when we get seriously pissed at Sellers who try the dirty on us.
But, don't these Take Out places take your money immediately after taking your order?

        • +1

Subway don’t take your cash until it's been through the production line

        • Subway and Mad Mex get your money at the end of preparing your order, Red Rooster gets money before the order.

I don't mean to put the blame on you nor be like "oh I'm smarter" but I redeemed this deal for the first time today and I was sure to go to the register and ask them to let me scan the code and make sure it works first before purchasing. They also need to ring up a mock sale in order for the scanner to pick it up. I went to a Subway in a Westfield and their POS said it wasn't accepted. They kindly suggested another store nearby not in the mall might accept it and sure enough they did - but the staff there had never seen it before and it took what felt like 5 minutes of them discussing it and referring to some piece of paper they found that had some information on it. Cool story I know

    • Well I've now found 2/5 subways near me accept the voucher (by walking in and asking) and the one mad mex near me also accepts these vouchers (there's no red rooster anywhere near here though). So with the 40% off smith's chips at Coles at the moment I've got cheap meals lined up for just over a month =D

    • I just got this response from Subway for Victoria. Not a lot of stores participating…

Why is Subway referred to as a RESTAURANT?

    • The same reason McDonald's is I suppose.

      • Maybe because you can sit down and EAT?
I refuse to use the term 'Dine In', when it comes to these 'joints'.
Is Dominoes referred to as a 'Restaurant'?
Oh, and before anyone comments, 'yes', I do leave money in those places. I'm human and I do get hungry, but definitely NO cravings.

        • +1

Yeah I kinda agree but I just don't let that sort of thing bother me anymore, maybe I'm getting old 😂

I only came here to find out what a subway flavoured chip might taste like given the vile odours from many a subway.

    • Tried the Subway Meatball sub flavoured chips and they are terrible. Smells like meat but awful taste. At least they were on special at Coles. The Mad Mex flavour was very good.

      • I'd say the New York subway but that has a more urine smell.

  • Looks like you can maybe get a $5 supermarket voucher instead:

The participating restaurant(s) are not available in my state - do I miss out?

Don’t worry, for any State that doesn’t have a participating restaurant, we’ll notify you at the time of entry if you’re eligible for a $5 supermarket eGift card instead. There is a limit of one (1) eGift card permitted per person, during the Promotion period.

Then you can continue to enjoy the Smith’s Taste Icons flavour range!

    From here

  • Tried Red Rooster today- very underwhelming!

    • Tried to redeem at Red Rooster the other day and voucher not accepted. That's two from rwo for me. Subway and Red Rooster. Shit promo IMO

      • +1

Sorry to hear I don't have much confidence if RR near me will accept voucher code.

I actually wrote some feedback to Smith's chips on the poor execution and received standard response back- "will pass on to Marketing and Research team for consideration". Not gonna fall for their "Limited edition flavour" BS again!
