Brisbane Recruitment Agency Recommendation

Hello, I'm planning on returning to Brisbane soon, but I found that finding job in Brisbane is very hard when I was living there. I tried seek and Jora and had no luck on getting one.

Any recommendation on job recruitment agency that hires around South Brisbane will be appreciated.

Many thanks

Mentioning what industry or job role you're looking for might be a good start.

Engineer? Medical? Executive Manager? Hospitality? Driver? Teacher?

    • This. There's industry-/role- specific recruitment agencies, these days.

I've never worked with a recruitment agency that was anything other than a glorified labour hire company.

If they don't have a job right there and then they'll take your resume and then ignore it.

Later, if they do get wind of a job, every other labour hire company will have the same lead, they'll all go straight to advertising the job on Seek, and none will ever even look at the resumes that they do have on file again other than to send you spam.

Calling any of these rent seeking companies "recruitment agencies" is a joke. The entire business model is based on extracting excess value from your wage and nothing else.

And, no, despite their claims, they will not fight for a higher wage for you. You aren't the client, the companies they're selling your labour to are the clients, and you don't gouge your clients when you want to get their business again next time they need a new fixed term contract labourer to exploit.

  • I've had a good experience with Hays.

  • It depends on the industry. If there are plenty of jobs, brush up your LinkedIn and let the snakes (recruiters) come to you. In many industries it’s all about who-you-know. I got my last job through a friend. It wasn’t even advertised. Actually there wasn’t even a vacant position technically. I don’t have any recruiter recommendations. They all suck and just want to get their commission (obviously).

I went to a “friend” who was a senior recruiter when Mrs Sweet was looking for a job. Let’s just say even though we knew each other, they still pulled out some a-grade slimy recruiter bullshyte, and made us pay for pre-screenings which turned out to be the wrong type and took zero responsibility. I can’t even trust people I know in the recruitment industry, let alone someone I don’t!

  • Recruiters are the absolute scum of earth
