Those Kettle chips are shrinking so quickly… now down to 150g-165g… please bring back the 200g packs!

      • +15

Do you mean people that don't like getting scammed with shrinkflation?

    • +3

And the standard price is now $6 as well I noticed, how long has it been like that? I was pretty sure at half price it was like $2.25 previously.

      • +1

We have been stocking up on the kettle chops at Aldi. They are still cheap there. The supermarkets are making a stack of profit at full price. I wonder if we will ever see food prices come back down?

        • +4

I never buy at full price, I should clarify. I'd rather just go without.

Do items like this go on sale often at Aldi?

        • +4

if we will ever see food prices come back down

          Lol of course not.

Also, the prices going up 25% are not because of inflation. It's because they're taking advantage of the situation. Look at their next quarterly earnings report and they'll post record profits in the billions.

Colesworth are using the current inflation climate to extract even more money from regular people to fill their coffers.

          • -1

@coffeeinmyveins: Colesworth aren't shrinking the bags, it's the suppliers. Also suppliers are likely getting FOMO so have jumped on the inflation bandwagon and increased their prices too. It's always easiest to chop down the tall poppies….

  • they were never $6 a bag, I think last time I got some a few weeks back it was 2 for $5

  • and woolies are the same half price @ $3

  • Yes! I can make some points on the money I owe the ATO

  • +1

Good one. Rather buy the Apple GC from Coles - I've been having to chase Woolies for the points and waited >30mins on hold last week as their online chat did not connect/work at all.

  • I should ignore the $20 = 400 Flybuys points note?

    • -1

Yup. I’ve deleted it from the description. Copy and paste error :/

  • +5

A limit of 50,000 Flyboys points per customer applies.

    What about flybuys points?

  • +1

What I find amusing is that these chip manufacturers (Kettle and Red Rock) are blaming the rise of potatoes in charging $6 and $6.30 respectively now. On the other hand, Smiths thinly cut chips have been permanently marked down recently to $2.50. Pepsico owns both Smiths and Red Rock. Anyone else smelling the BS being served up here?

    • +5

All they need is an excuse hike the price. But look on bright side, I have completely stopped eating chips now. Used to be 4 dollars for 2 bags of kettle chips on special.

      • +3

Same here, the only real benefit i can see is consuming less chips and hoping my health gets better as a result :)

  • i have to wait for woolies, i want the qantas points.

    • Woolies have promo for 20x points on Apple gift cards right now

      • what, i missed that alert. wtf

        going now, thanks mate.

          • @WookieMonster: Big w has max of 200 denomination
Cards only. Woolies got plenty of 500.

            • @unhuman: Yes, that’s why I said in my original comment that most Apple gift cards were included in the sale at BIG W.

It also sounds like your local Woolworths has plenty of variable load denomination Apple gift cards. I visited two of my local Woolworths stores last night and neither had any variable load denominations anywhere on the gift card shelves.

Also, just because a Woolworths has plenty of variable load denomination gift cards does not mean you can buy all the gift cards you want in one visit. The current Woolworths deal has reports of staff only allowing the sale of $500 or $1000 or $2000 worth of gift cards to a customer, so the BIG W option is good if you also have a BIG W in the area and want to try and get multiple Apple gift cards in one trip.

              • @WookieMonster: I had a chat with the staffs and they did mention managers approval required for transactions over 1k. They will just make sure you are not using gift cards for ato payments. If you are in Sydney, rouse hill got plenty on stocks.

So can I just confirm the maths here; 50k points is $1250 in coles vouchers right and I have $2500 to spend at Apple.

    • I think its 2000points for $10
So, only $250 in coles voucher

    • +1

Haha, I am sure everyone will jump on the deal if works that way $1250…never.

      • +1

Oh derp derp. I see where I went wrong. Cheers

    • -1

      1250, wtf.

going now, that is one hell of a deal. ty

oh wait, is it $250 or $1250?

      • No idea why they think it's $1250, that would be the craziest deal ever. It's 2000 points = $10 so 50k points = $250

        • -1

thank you for clarifying, of course it was too good to be true.

they need to delete incorrect information, there is going to be a lot of pissed off people.

          • @Hugh G Rection: Unfortunately you can't edit a comment once it has been replied to, but you can ask to have it unpublished which tsk2 should do.

  • The duck in QLD is only 1.8 kgs from Coles, but 2.2 kgs from Aldi for about $18 iirc. Not sure how they farm ducks, you’d think they grow faster in warmer climates. Maybe they are not the same as plants lol

  • What does $100 Apple GC work out in terms of points / value?

    • +2

      $100 gift card = 2,000 Flybuys points.

2,000 Flybuys points = $10 off your shop OR 1,000 Velocity points (worth anywhere from $5-$60 depending on how you redeem them).

      • +1

This is what I needed in the OP

  • Is flybuys points better or the qantas point via wooli? TIA

    • +1

well which do you use more?

  • +1

    Noob question,

Can you buy the apple gift cards, “top up” your wallet and have monthly charges for iCloud storage and Apple TV deducted from your account rather than have it deduct from linked credit card?

    • +2

that's what i do, generally apple will deduct from your account balance first.

    • +1

      yup

  • Okay so I’m likely going to get a M1 Max MacBook Pro from Apple refurbished for $4029. Would I buy 25x $100 Apple gift cards to get the max 50000 points and then I’d have to pay the remaining $2029 off card? Idek if there is a max amount of Apple gift cards you can use at the Apple Store LOL.

    Would this work?

    • -1

There’s no maximum limit if you add all your gift cards onto your Apple wallet balance

Woolies is running the same promo until Tuesday. Maybe grab the remaining from Woolies and the rest from Coles?

      • Wait you can buy stuff at the Apple Store with your Apple wallet? Is that like the balance that You see on the App Store?

        • +1

yup, bought my iPhone 14 Pro Max with a ton of gift cards I got from JB a while back had like $2700 sitting in my apple balance which is just being used now for Apple One and other stuff I'm subbed to or buy on the app store. I think 5K is the max you can store.

        • +2

Your apple account which you have loaded with gift cards cannot be used in store only online. Physical Cards that have not been loaded can be used in store. But you can purchase online with your apple loaded account and choose to collect instore.

          • @oneteaspoon469: +1. I asked about this at Apple Store Sydney last week and staff there confirmed exactly above.

      • +3

There is a $5000 limit on your apple account when uploading apple giftcards.

    • +1

Would I buy 25x $100 Apple gift cards to get the max 50000 points

Limit of 5 cards per Flybuys account also applies so this won't work. The most you can get is 5x $500 variable load cards and then, as the OP has mentioned, buy the rest of the cards from Woolworths or Big W who are running bonus points promos on Apple gift cards as we speak.

You can add up to $4,999 in gift cards to your Apple account balance and pay using that.

  • I'm pretty sure I saw Kettle's 650g bag for $10 at Costco which works out to be cheaper.

    • But more costly to your waistline.

      • +1

        Yeah 650g more weight! Woohoo

  • Does anyone know or can anyone confirm if the Apple $200-$500 Variable Load Gift Cards are included in this bonus points promotion? Thanks in advance

    • +2

Yes. The catalogue shows that specific card and in all previous promotions it has been included as well.

      • Great, thanks!

      • Does that mean I can load on a specific amount, like $220, and recieve $22 in flybuy credit?

        • Yes, that will work but remember that you can only redeem Flybuys dollars in $10 increments.

        • better just buy from ozb classifieds at 10% off - saved your time

  • Thank you!! $250 loaded to my flybuys today after getting 5x$500 gift cards.
