Similar to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757539 but this is E27 rather than B22. So not the same imho.

Not as good as previous deals for the B22, but so many of my light fitting for some reason are E27 (thought E27 was more USA and B22 Aus, but what do I know.)

Anyway the camels cubed suggest this is lowest price.

    I’ve had like two light fittings in my life use bayonet and they were both super old. E27 seems to be the Aussie standard, hard pressed finding a bayonet lamp in the stores nowadays.

    • Maybe I am thinking from the Clipsal Batten holder from renovating my old house, they were all E22.
      As I said what do I know…

        Ah I’m no expert either, just my own experience with globes. When something goes out these days I don’t even bother checking the fitting anymore.

    • I got the sense that Bayonet was the Australian standard but with more recent imports we're shifting to E27 Edison screw.
      Lots of old houses use B22 but our old house has had IKEA fittings installed at some point and they're E27. Lamps etc from stores mostly use E27 as well because they're made in China for a global market. I believe US only use E27. I think UK use B22

      • Now you've got me curious, I might see if there's any old fittings at my investment, house was built in the 60s, my current place is early 2000s, like 2001 or so and its entirely E27. I am trying to think back of other houses I grew up in and whether they were any different but struggling to think of any now.

        I wonder if there is any genuine benefit to one vs the other or if we would all be better off resources wise to just pick a singular fitting. Imagine the waste it would reduce if we had global standard interface options, generally speaking.

        • I can remember being told when I was very young that bayonet were "better" because the heating generated from incandescent light bulbs (and cooling every day over many years) could sometimes cause the fitting to change shape making it very hard to unscrew. I can vaguely remember my dad trying to unscrew an Edison bulb and the glass breaking.

            @Oceadge: Yep
            I had screwed out a few E27 and only part of the bulb came out

            @Oceadge: I never would've thought of that but it makes sense now that you say it.. Bayonet fitting would negate that possibility almost entirely.

    Also looks like historical low on according to CCC

    • They are. I've been waiting for ages

  • Are these bulbs made of glass or clear plastic?

  • Back to $59 it seems, may be gone.
