MyUS Address No Long Tax Free?

So I made a purchase from MyUS last year, and the process was smooth, just it set my default currency to AUD and caused some extra conversation cost.

However, I used exactly the same address this year and the 7% tax applied from the same vendor. I tried to Google "FL 34249 tax" like I did last year in https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/742027, and surprisingly, Google now returns no matching result, only something like this:

https://www.avalara.com/taxrates/en/state-rates/florida/coun….

Hence, I wonder if this address is no longet tax free?

    • Thanks for the tip but I knew how to Google tax free stats in US.

I am currectly using MyUS but it doesn't have an OR address.

  • +1

Some retailers for some reason they don't exclude myus tax free postcode. You can try to bring it up to retailer to refund you the tax.

Amazon, Walmart and eBay from my experience is tax free to MyUS FL address

Anyway you should set currency as USD in MyUS then pay with 28 degree. This way you won't get charge extra.

    • Didn't realize you are the same guy I respond your post last time. Since that post, eBay redesigned their site then the tax again appear. I enquiried and asked for refund, they refunded me it in a week plus fixed this problem.

      • I even attached the tax exemption certificate from MyUS to this American vendor (which didn't charge me tax last time), but their customer service was beyond useless - they ignored it and just copied and pasted their canned response.

        • MyUS does mention that sometimes it depends on the retailer.

I was shared by MyUS previously - you can try to show the retailer this doc. PM me - I'll share this doc.

          • @foxmulder: Thanks, but MyUS customer support already sent me their tax exemption certificate. The vendor's customer service seemed to just ignore the file I sent to them.

The problem for me was that the same vendor suddenly charged my tax this year while I was using exactly the same address. This is what confused me and made me make this post. Also, weirdly enough, Google now shows no directly result about this tax free code in this results.

Unfortunately, my application to 28° was rejected previously (not due to bad credits though) and I am not planning to do it in the near future. I am using Citibank debit card where there is no coversation cost but thanks for your tip.
