    Small version is well priced too - buy 2 = $11.97 or 3 = $9.98 each plus PLUSFEB1 discount

Useless if you want the time displayed though? I have both the clock and the smaller sensors in my home and they are in different rooms. I have the clock version in my bedroom but the non clock version in my office because I already have access to a multitude of clocks there. Both version are quite useful but it must be noted the smaller device does NOT have a time function period.

      • Any light and alarm on the clock version?

I have the clock version in my bedroom

So no backlight and alarm, right? Like a normal bed side clock.

      • Is the temperature for both accurate?

        • +3

          Close enough for consumer devices

          • @asa79: How close is it? Have you used it and compared? Honest question.

        • +2

My experience is that you need to buy three , plus a calculator , and then you can average the 3 different readings.

      • -1

        That's what your phones for….

    • +1

      3 = $9.98 ,where to get?

      • +2

It's out of stock now, but it was $9.98 each.

    • +1

I have a few of theses scattered around the house. I use them with Home Assistant to get temp readings of the bedrooms.

    • I should have got these instead actually. Oh well. Actually it looks like these aren't e-ink, so maybe I shouldn't have got these instead.

  • You can get usually 3 of the little ones for that price

  • +2

Does anyone know if these can be flashed with custom firmware like the small ones mentioned above?

    • +1

I would say yes. You can check here. Looks like a pic of it there. It would help if the Ebay store included the part number.

  • Do these have a backlight? And if so, how bright are they?

    • I do not think there's a backlight.

Not mentioned, but I based that off of this Youtube video.

    • This should be e-ink

      • +1

So can't use it as a bed side clock.

        • Depends on how dark it gets where you plan to use it

      • +1

Kindle is e-ink and it has a front light.

  • +9

Uses 2xcr2032 button cells. Would rather get something that uses AA.

    • Agreed. On the long run, ozb's eneloops will be handy ;)

  • Does anyone know of one that does inside and also has an outdoor sensor?

  • Coming up as $47.96, is it expired?

    • Same for me

    • +1

System error. Price is back now

  • +1

got a few of these, e-ink, work with home assistant to provide temperature.

  • wish it used AA battery given all the recent deals.

  • -1

What's so special about this that you wouldn't just get one of the $15 ones on Amazon instead?

  • Also if you have a HomePod mini or the new HomePod don't forget that Apple recently turned on the humidity and temperature sensor chip that was built in all along. No clock face though, you'd have to ask Siri what the time is.

  • Sold out. If you got it, lucky you.

    • It's still in stock and price is adjusted back

      • Thanks, no backlight and alarm as bedside clock, right?

        • +1

Anything else you would like? A built-in cereal dispenser for brekky?

  • Is there a version with multiple sensors for different rooms? Would at least like 1 for indoor and 1 outdoor…

    • Buy two?

      • Don't really want to walk outside to read how hot/cold it is.

Easier if the sensor is outside and I can read it inside. Smart idea right?

        • You can read it on your phone.

    • +1

The little ones like these are better value if you just want to see to see Temp/Humidity. Stick one outside.

  • +1

Disappointed it's only 10cm wide so tiny.

When OP said "around the same as the small one without clock" I thought they were saying there is a "smaller" one, so this one was the big one.

    • When OP said "around the same as the small one without clock"

I mean the features as the small one + clock.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/684778

      • Ok I misunderstood. Still a shame for me I wanted to find something with a large clock display and I know Xiaomi makes decent products like these.
Other no name "medium" sized clocks on Amazon were $25 to $30 (honestly they don't look too good so didn't want to risk it) so I was thinking maybe this was a large display clock on sale for $25.

  • Back in stock https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13409352/redir

REP adjusted the price back to the discount price.

  • I think the last I looked at these they were 24-hour only, no AM/PM mode. Is that still the case?

  • Does it has an alarm function?

  • Price just went up

    • $47.96

    • +4

oops fixed again….sorry for the inconvenience caused

      • +1

Thanks, I decided to buy some after all. Been meaning to get some $15 ones from Amazon to help decide if it's too hot to sit in my unairconditioned office, but the eink maybe better than cheap LCD ones.

      • @Luckymi Are you able to answer few questions as well?

  • How is the battery life?

    • +1

It said around 1 year I think like the small one.

  • +3

Any way to get that stupid uwu face off of it?

    • I'm guessing if you turn the heat up on your house enough that it'll turn into an angry face.

      • I have a cheaper LCD version that runs on a coin battery with Time/Temp/Humidity from Amazon and the face changes according to humidity.

When humid it goes grumpy and when it's drier it goes happy.

        This one.
        https://www.amazon.com.au/ThermoPro-Hygrometer-Thermometer-H…

        • Page four of the instructions shows you the only way to get to change the face is to get the temp below 19 or above 27, or get the humidity below 20% or above 85% https://www.panmi.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Mi-Tempe…

Which is a bit silly, 27 degrees is quite hot isn't it? And 80% is quite humid yeah?

          • @AustriaBargain: Hmm didn't know about the temp part, I just noticed last year when it was really humid that it was angry face.

27 is hot yes I think so. Above 26 I consider hot. as you approach 22 to 24 I think it's "warm" and a fan will suffice.

Not too sure about humidity levels actually. But reminds me of a thing I read human bodies can't take high temp + high humidity. e.g. If it was both 27+ and over 80% humidity I am pretty sure the time the human body can only survive that is in hours. Wet bulb effect I think it's called.

            • @harshbdmmaster718: I've been told by someone in Thailand that the humidity makes the heat more tolerable. But I've also been told from someone who just moved to Australia that our dry heat is more tolerable because you sweat less compared to humid heat.

I think 24 degrees is where it starts getting hot though it may just feel hotter in my home because the sun really bakes the rooms. Which is why I wanted a thermometer so I can see if it's actually getting hotter inside than the temperature outside.

              • @AustriaBargain:

I've been told by someone in Thailand that the humidity makes the heat more tolerable.

I dunno lol. From what I have heard from a few people living in humid countries is humidity + heat is TERRIBLE lol.

I think 24 degrees is where it starts getting hot though it may just feel hotter in my home because the sun really bakes the rooms.

Yeah and in my situation I try to close everything up before a hot day and keep it that way. Probably depends on the home but yeah some people like to "air things out" but in my experience on a hot day it just makes the indoor temp the same as outdoor temp. If I keep things closed I can notice a big drop in indoor temp compared to outdoor. No airconditioner or fans used either.

    • Use sticky tape to cover it XD

  • Thanks OP, picked up the second last one.

  • +1

What do these typically go for? I bought three but now I'm thinking I should have got one for every room. And is the range on the BT good enough to put one out int he shed?

  • Back in stock

    • Looks like it still sold out 😓

      • Yes, just for a short time.

  • I want to use something like this with home assistant…. But isn't Bluetooth range then a problem?

    • Yes it can be depending on size of property. I have MiTemp devices in all rooms, outside, and no issues getting readings (even from the ones in the fridge & freezer). My HA PC is in center of house with a USB Bluetooth dongle attached to a 0.5m extension cable. It's doesn't reach the Garage which is far end of garden. Coverage is decent enough. As a guide house has brick wall and approx +/- 13m x 13m.

    • +1

You can use a ESPHome bluetooth proxy to pass the info back to HA

      • Good point.
I tested this and it worked well for some devices (mostly). The ESP boards Bluetooth do however have a have limited range and in my experience is less compared to the Bluetooth range on the MiTemp device itself. I could place the ESP device closer to the garage but the MiTemp device was still too far away from it to act as a bridge between HA and the MiTemp device. In fact my HA Bluetooth dongle reached further down the garden compared to the ESP which was closer to the garden.

Having said that ESP boards with WiFi/Bluetooth work very well throughout a Home as long as they are placed within decent range of each other. Excellent way to extend for the most part, just not all.

        • Yep!
I have a single m5 atom lite which seems to be doing a good job grabbing data from 3 of these sensors (the smaller ones) currently.
