Kids Learning Apps / Games for Old Android Tablet (Jelly Bean)

Looking at putting some learning apps on an old tablet to keep our 3yr old entertained on a flight.

Tablet is basically brand new. Battery life is good. But its old and running Jelly Bean OS.

Also, was looking at putting VLC on it. Found older VLC.apks But its asks if it's and ARM processor and what type? How do I tell?

Whatever apps are still supported on Jelly Bean will be available on the Play Store.

There are apps that will tell you this information, search the Play Store for 'hardware info' and one of those should be able to tell you. If not, and you know the model of your tablet or the processor, you can Google it.

    • Cheers.

Tried the obvious googling, but no hits.

As for the Playstore, it won't connect.

Says my login/ password is incorrect. But try it on my phone and all is good. Made the password visible to check it was being typed correctly.

So something is no longer communicating properly anymore there.. in summary. No Playstore access any more.

It might be time to just act like Elsa and let it go

Last thing you want on a flight is to be annoyed the tablet has given up

          Probs right.

But got a few apks from one of the app repositories. Seem to be working ok.

Amazing these old tablets / batteries are still 100% functional.

  • If you use Netflix, you can always download the movies onto the tablet that way

An older tablet will have limited storage space tho

    • But should have expandable storage, right?

Yeah, has a SD card slot.

According to https://help.netflix.com/en/node/54816 you need Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) or later to be able to download movies for offline viewing. Jelly Bean only went to 4.3.1.

I vaguely recall replacing one of my older Android tablets long ago, mostly for that reason.
