Help Me with a New VDSL2 Modem/Router for nbn FTTB

I can see a few bargains on routers on Amazon but I’m struggling to find one because I’m a noob when it comes to this.

Can anyone recommend which is one better? I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with about 15 wifi devices and my NF18ACV is struggling with multi speaker for example.

Don’t know if possible but a vdsl2 (fttb) compatible would be better so I don’t need to keep 2 connected. Not big issue though.

Amazon would also be better.

Thank you!

Where do you think the issue is - a problem with WiFi coverage or a problem with router througput?

What speed NBN are you running?

    • I think it’s coverage on 2.4 (even though it’s only 5m away). Smart fans and lights keep losing signal.

      I’m on 50mb

For what its worth, I was in a similar position (FTTB, lots of IoT) as you and ended up going for the updated version my telco was offering. I'm with Exetel and their newest modem router is a ZTE with Wifi6 and mesh.

So far performance has been identical so I assume our router was not the bottle neck. I do like its ability for multiple SSIDs as it has at least four radios. I now have a dedicated IoT network to see if that improved the performance of everything. So far it has just been an absolute pain to switch all my devices.

Based on your needs, you may want to consider the following routers:

ASUS RT-ACRH13: This router supports up to 1267Mbps and can handle up to 20 devices at once. It also has a high-gain antenna for better coverage and a USB 3.0 port for sharing files and media.

TP-Link Archer A7: This router supports up to 1750Mbps and can handle up to 50 devices at once. It also has a USB 2.0 port for sharing files and media.

NETGEAR Nighthawk R6700: This router supports up to 1750Mbps and can handle up to 25 devices at once. It also has a USB 3.0 port for sharing files and media.

All of these routers are compatible with VDSL2 (FTTB) and should provide better performance than your current router. They are also available on Amazon.

Before making a purchase, be sure to check if your internet service provider (ISP) requires a specific type of router for VDSL2 (FTTB) compatibility.

    I hope this helps!

Make sure you get something with WIFI 6 - it's better at dealing with many devices
