    these shorted dated Asahi, ..
    .best before 25/03/2023,

OMG, how could anyone drink 6 beers within a month??? 😋

  • I had heard that the date doesn't affect the beer especially in cans, thoughts?

Not straight away, but they do go flat eventually. I had 550ml a year after best before date. It was flat

    • I have never had a bad beer thats past its BB, had a Emu Export 15 years past its BB and it was still good.

        Was that in cans?
        Bottled beer goes rank

        • yep cans

        • yeah, I have tasted bottled beer that's flat as it was past BB date, but not in cans as it's completely sealed.

        • Sun/light with bottles. That's why carton milk lasts longer

This is great. Asahi close to date would be fine - it's the hops that people fret about when it comes to best before, and asahi ain't hoppy.

If I were closer to Rhodes I'd be into this. Good bargain.

Anyone know somewhere that sells Asahi 350ml cans in Melbourne ? They are made in Japan not the locally brewed fake muck.

    • You'd be lucky to even find it locally brewed. Normally when I've had bottles they've been from China, and nothing like the Japanese one. Although I think some of the other ones (the Asahi Soukai midstrength one) is made here.

I liked the taste of asahi 2 months after best before last time.

  • The 24 can slabs are going for $35 .

If I lived within 50km of that bottleshop I'd go and buy the whole lot.

I didn't know they even sold the 350ml cans in Australia. All I ever see are the 500ml cans, which are fine but I don't always want to drink quite that much. And I guess there's the bottles but those aren't proper Asahi.

    • The 500ml cans are also brewed in Australia muck now. Only these 350ml cans are Japanese version sold in Australia now but they're very rare.

edit/ i see some recent reviews on Dan Murphys says the 500ml Japan imports are back, i'll have to check that out

      • I’ve been buying the 500mls for years and never had aus brewed ones

        • It’s all AU brewed now. Check your local retailer. I checked liquorland, BWS and Dan. They are all local brewed now. Unless it changed in the last month.

          • @spc12go: I got one yesterday from first choice and it’s Japanese

  • They now have Cass for $8.99
