Free Ear Wax Removal & Hearing Check

      Maybe you need a checkup!

I thought bulk-billing doctors did this at no cost to patients of any age anyway.

    • +1

You have doctors that bulk-bill near you?

Wow. After many decades, our local practice is now scrapping it, and everyone over the age of 16 will be slugged $20-$40 out of pocket depending on the length of the consult (10/20 min), but it's more like get in… late - before you even sit down, they ask what do you want, press a few keys on keyboard, print the scripts and prepare to usher you out the door, plus you have to make an appointment at least 2-3 weeks beforehand as they're so booked up, yet seem to have loads of time to walk around and talk amongst themselves.

$99 to remove something that will be back in a few days?

    • if you have wax in you ears - it's like wearing earplugs … affects your hearing / communication / quality of life…
offering an opportunity for people to get their ears checked and have wax removed is a good thing if you are eligible ..
everyone has loss leaders and upsells…

The bargain has very clearly been listed.
But don’t let that keep you from your baseless assumptions about the op, though.

      • +1

I’m sorry you’ll have to speak up, I’m wearing a towel!

    • Lololololol

      Jesus Christ what a comment.

  • How many pensioners on OzB?

    • +1

Yeah, old people are known for never wanting to save money on anything.

    • +1

      define old?

    • +2

Here is a mind blowing fact. Not all pensioners are old.

Theres varieties of pension. And yes old age pension is one of them but disability pension is another.

  • +2

These people deserve a OAM for this.

I'd be probably be dry retching all day scraping crusty impacted ear wax from elderly people…..or anyone except myself for that matter.

    Proctologists deserve a AC.

    • +3

Given the suburb they could be both.

      • +2

        I can understand that.
My doctor said his speciality is coughs, colds and sore holes.

  • +4

Madame Tussauds has probably got a hand in this.

  • -1

What's that? I can't hear you. I have wax in my ears.

  • What does this cost for non pensioners?

  • +2

LoL $99 for earwax removal. A Dr will get a Medicare rebate and may charge you a little more, but you should never pay $99.

  • I would prefer 3000 Qantas points to the ear wax removal.

  • +3

Plenty of audiology companies actually tout for business because they get a govt rebate. The scheme is FREE to pensioners and others
Private health insurance may also cover you. Had a provider chasing both my wife and I after she took her pensioner mother in for a hearing aid. Wife probably told them I was deaf ???
