  • How does this compare with the diamondback bikes that were recently on sale?

    • Diamondback looks like microshift which is a knock off shimano mid range

      Better than Tourney overall

My sentiment towards Microshift has improved recently. I first saw them in mainly low end grip shifters in decathlon bikes and didnt think much, but later learnt about their mid range offerings like Advent and they have been around for over 20yrs. I would place them in the would buy category now.

I'm still not yet convinced of brands like sensah and ltwoo (interested, not yet would buy).

Kmart bikes have the same components: revoshift, tourney etc

This is a trash bike so may as well get 2 for the price of one

  • +1

    $10 discount with code WELCOME10.

I had a fluid bike for almost 6 yrs and pretty much it quite good compares what the one I bought from BigW.

    • So it was equally rubbish?

      • +3

Wouldn't say it rubbish. Just say it good enough.

  • +2

Depends what you use it for

Quick ride to the shops or with kids Ok considering they all probably have throw out bikes too but after a few years grip shifters and tourney will be no good whilst your entry or mid range would last longer

Anything more than a quick, occasional ride you’re going to want at least entry level range ie. Altus, Acera, Claris, then entry to mid microshift then mid range deore, 105, ultegra

  • I'm looking for a mountain bike for around $250 to $300, any recommendations?

  • Also be mindful of weight. These cheap bikes are usually heavy!

  • +2

There's a lot of dissing this bike, but I would expect the likes of Anaconda and Decathlon to be a step (a small step maybe, but a step) above Kmart 'bike-shaped objects'.
Simply pointing out that some name-check compenents are similar the same is a bit like comparing two computers saying they both have Intel processors. You can bet every other component on the Kmart bike is the lowest, cheapest quality.

One feature of this bike that stands out for me is the steel forks, which imho are far more preferable to alloy ones. It may not make much difference on a short ride though.

    • Depends on what tier

They are all out for profit

A mate had a trash Decathlon bike no different to Kmart quality

At the end of the day if you trace it back to China it all probably goes back to a handful of main factories anyway

      • … which proves the problem is not of incompetence, but of costing.

    • +1 for steel forks (or lowers). Should you need front or rear dropout alignment, steel is easy.

Mostly they sell it for $ 199 only, i bought it October last year. dont go with Reg. price

    • Haha not far from Kmart price

    • Not unlike Anaconda to sell expensive crap with a flair of sale.

  • A driver of a SUV drove into me on my Trek bike at an intersection with a bike track and the bike can't be fixed. I have taken the driver to court and I have received an offer that this $299 Fluid Sprint bike is a fair replacement in the view of the driver. Would I be getting like for like here? Isn't the Fluid Sprint a heavier steel built frame than the aluminium alloy Trek bike for a start even before we get to corporate reputation?
