"Anyway Clef Hifi, South Melbourne have these for $1999 which is between $700 to $1000 cheaper than elsewhere."
and about the same price as whirlpool buyers have reported this year…
so perhaps not THAT cheap compared to what other stores are selling them for

  • I stand corrected

  • The thing with high end hifi is that is quite a small market. Shops usually don't update prices daily or even monthly or quarterly. Make sure you shop around as most retailers would be glad to offer alot lower than their advertised price, since their sales are slow.

It is a nice price, however i don't know anyone actually runing an 11.1 setup. Seems abit overkill since hdmaster audio is only at 7.1 on standard blurays.

Sure krisspy..yeah Ive had mine since December last year..paid $1350…. was robbed last August and got looked after by yamaha australia….as well as krix :)

11.2, 11 speakers 2 subwoofers is overkill ….but run it with a standard 5 channels and a sub and biamp the fronts and it is amazing…plus the 2 other zones at the same time …oh and link it to another amp and you start discovering why it has won so many awards

2012 Sound and Image Multi Channel Receiver over $2500 winner…..2012..Australian awards.

Maybe if you fly to Singapore and buy one without an Australian warranty you might get it cheaper haha

NIce amp …good price and Australian delivery and service…Clef HIfi are great

    • Definitely nice amps, i bought the lower A2000 since i bought a rotel pre amp for my cm8's anyways, didn't need the extra amps or channels.

But the aventage lineups really play nice when connected to a network. Plays alot of file types including flac. The audio quality seems to be better through the network vs the hdmi for some reason, as in the sound is closer to what the direct mode sounds like.

  • The RX-V3071 is effectively the same as the RX-A3010 minus the extra(fifth) leg, included iPod dock and the 3071 only comes with a 2 year warranty vs the 4 year warranty on the A3010.

You can pick the RX-V3071 up for under $1600 making it fantastic value.

  • I have a friend who is both an audio engineer and the best technician I know (he can repair most things that others give up on as being too difficult - lets just say i know many technicians). He steered me to Yamaha amps as having the best overall internals and easy to repair.
So, based on his advice (particularly to generally avoid amps whose brand names start with S*** and P******), you can't go wrong with a mid to high end Yamaha.
He did warn me that low end Yamaha was like a Sony^h^h^h in build quality and should be avoided.
