Running out of Options to Clean Oil Stain on Driveway

Hi

My mate’s car left some oil stains on my new concrete driveway. I’ve tried all of the options I could find on the net and the stains are still there. Anything else I can try?

I’ve tried:
- Pepsi
- hot water with dish washer liquid
- baking soda
- clr oil remover from Bunnings
- concrete and hard stone cleaner from Bunnings

Remove the concrete & start again?Problem solved completely!

  • Just have the mate build you a new driveway.

  • Have you tried Hydrochloric acid? Dilute 1 to10 ratio.

  • Would grinding/honing for that polished look work? Always wanted to grind the concrete in my garage, but would the oil stain still be there after (since it soaks into the concrete)?

  • Petrol will clean it.

  • All your driveway needs is time.

In two years, you won't even notice.

  • Had the same issue in the garage (concrete) and driveway a few years ago. I bought something in an orange bottle from Coles that did the job perfectly. Orange Power, off the top of my head, but I'll check later and update this.

  • Kerosene is a degreaser. Usually much cheaper too.

  • Call a professional pressure washer / soft washer company, They should be able to sort it out for you at a reasonable price.

Would also suggest sealing your driveway with a penetrating sealant that prevents oil / water into said driveway. Something like Fluoro seal from Sif Sealers.

  • Industrial grade brand like Matrix speciality lubricants food grade oil and degreaser.

  • Suspect that attempting to use products like Pepsi has washed the stain into the driveway.

  • We used canned oven cleaner on a old rental years ago, took about 15mins and each time waited for it to nearly dry.

  • The petrol stations have kitty litter in their spill kit bins. Ask one of them what else they use

    1. Break Cleaner
    2. Soap, degreaser and hard brush, with some manual labour
    3. Pressure Washer with some soap, degreaser
