Coles now have the new LG Optimus L3 model for $49.50

coles now have the new LG optimus L3 model for $49.50 if you use a flybuys card that hasnt been already used to purschase the LG optimus spirit. Is the L3 model any better or not then the LG Optimus Spirit? It has 1Gb internal memory and a different screen size but less ram 384mb i think? i haven't opened up my Optimus Spirit box yet and have 30 days to return it so i wonder if its worth exchanging it for the new model as it has more on board memory 1GB but less ram? Which phone is better the old LG optimus spirit or the replacement model LG optimus L3 both priced the same?

can anyone who owns the phone comment if its important to have more internal memory like the L3 has 1gb or you can get by without lagging on the Spirit phone if you move apps to the sd micro card?

A better comparison of specs is here on gsmarena.

Looking at both, the main differences are:

    L3 vs Optimus Spirit
    - 110g vs 129.2g
    - 240x320p vs 320x480p
    - 1GB vs 150MB internal storage
    - 384MB vs 512MB RAM

Off specs alone, I personally think the older Optimus Spirit is a better phone. Higher screen resolution and more RAM far outweigh it's very limited internal storage.

thanks John for the reply. i'm however leaning more towards the L3 as it supports HTML5, Adobe Flash, has a better battery life and 1gb internal memory. I know you can move most apps to a Sd micro card but i have a optus mytablet (ZTE V9) and have found that the internal memory is very limited and quite a few apps i use you can not intall or move them onto a Sd micro card so the internal memory fills up quick making the device lag. i dont know how accurate gsmarena website is since it lists them both as 3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100 only? i thought it supported 850mhz in Australia that's one of the main reasons i brought one. does anyone know if the new L3 model supports telstra's 4G network too and will LG continue to support the Spirit model i.e (flash) ?

Very little info on Telstra's page.

    Would definitely be 850MHz 3G, not 900MHz 3G

  • screen size on the l3 sucks

  • can you please provide a link to the deal. I rang up my local coles and they didnt know about this deal at all.

  • wah…aiya just go to your local coles or bilos and ask for the L3 and scan your flybuys card the price will drop from $99 to $49.50 i dont know when it ends. if anyone knows let us know?

  • Does anyone know how we can get this deal? I've tried most of the Coles stores in Canberra and none of them has this model and one said they don't sell this model. Any ideas?

  • I've seen it in their display case - might have been Ashfield Coles or World Square. But there was nothing about the fly buys price. Just the $99 price.

    • Give them your fly buys card to scan, and it should automatically bring it down.

  • Checked several Coles and none of them has stock in… anyone got it?

  • How did you know about this deal? Is it advertised anywhere on Flybuys website?

  • i went to the service desk at a coles in SE qld and asked but they were out of the Lg spirit but said the replacement model L3 was the same price. Give them your fly buys card to scan, and it should automatically bring it down. im not sure if its still this price or gone back up to $99. most staff are not aware of this special price so just ask them to try and scan a fly buys card that hasnt been used to buy a spirit or a L3 and it should come down in price if this offer hasnt expired yet.

  • Wouldn't get the new one, i can deal with the less ram but the resolution kills it…
