Mate, you did well. Pls don’t apologies for their actions. Thank you for the post.

      • Did u get this from baby expo?

        • I bought bottles from Pigeon Baby Australia. The leaflet was inside with the invoice.

      • All good OP, good post, unfortunate they didn't honour. Lost plenty of future business

    • +3

Works out to $74 for Crawler (6–11kg) 176 nappies, so $0.42c per unit. Vs Aldi, $0.20 per unit.

  • Just received this:

Thank you for your recent order with Comfy Koalas Eco Nappies.

Unfortunately, you do not meet the specific criteria to receive the promo code you have used and through a technical error on the website your discount was accepted and unfortunately we have to cancel your order and refund you.

We are very sorry about this and any disappointment it may have caused however we can offer you the highest discount amount currently available on our monthly nappy box which is 25% off your first order. The code is OZBGN25.

With our monthly boxes, you save every month compared to a one-off purchase and with your code, you will get a 25% off your first box (which has already been discounted, so you save twice!), postage is free and we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on everything we sell.

Once again, we are very sorry for any disappointment this technical issue may have caused.

    • +2

      Haha an apology / marketing.

  • Order cancelled. I love the new promo code OZBGN25. Obviously they know they got OzBargained lol

  • +7

Never doing business with these guys. Really this deal would have been used by Parents/Wd be parents (targeted recipients). Their actions/rejection is more personal than say Bunnings/Amazon cancellation.

I really wish good success to Huggies.

    • +5

Yes odd decision of them not to honour it. No one who didn’t want nappies would sign up for this sample given you have to pay delivery. Why hurt your customer base ie people who buy nappies.

Having said that as long as the refund the postage no major harm done to the consumer.

    • -8

I don’t think it’s fair to provide a negative review unless they don’t refund the postage.

      • +6

It is fair, because they say that the offer was targeted but it wasn’t.

        • -3

People don’t have to give you things for a significantly discounted price because one of their customers shared a code that wasn’t meant for a wider audience (no fault of OP either). If people get a discount it seems disproportionate to slam their business with negative reviews, where their product and service might be very good.

I think it’s the wrong call to withdraw this offer from a marketing POV. But I also think it harms OzB when there’s this kind of vigilantism to hurt a business whether due to a price or promo code error. In the end it will make people not want to do business with this community. I’m all for jumping on a price error or brilliant (tgtbt) deal ‘but if the company withdraws I respect that.

It seems like this business is genuinely trying to produce an eco nappy - a tough thing to do when competing with Aldi, Huggies etc. I don’t want to be part of a campaign to ruin someone’s dream and business over a discounted pack of nappies.

          • +5

@morse: At least it sends a message - one that sorely needs to be delivered - that we aren't just a free advertising platform & if you try and scam the members or try some bait & switch bullshit, you / your brand will (rightfully) suffer consequences. Ozbargain's power to deliver sales is coveted, we must protect its integrity & not allow it to be overrun with spammy posts.

            • +2

@Harry P Ness: This wasn't an associated post though - they weren't trying to advertise here. Someone had a code and shared it. Not really bait & switch by the company itself.

            • @Harry P Ness:

if you try and scam the members or try some bait & switch bullshit, you / your brand will (rightfully) suffer consequences.

It doesn’t seem like this company was marketing to OzB members at all. How is it a bait and switch if they didn’t even promote it?

Remember in life to treat people as you’d like to be treated, what if it was your business or job on the line?

What a good idea for data harvesting. For free.
To stop this, negatives need to be given to such businesses.

        • +3

I think this is likely a genuine mistake not data harvesting.

          • +1

@morse: Agree with you on this. Just that their comm has been so bad.

        • To stop this, negatives need to be given to such businesses.

Yep, agreed, but OzB prevents us changing our votes. Why?

          • +1

@wisdomtooth: Because of no good reason.

The answer I got from mods was "don't vote for the business' deals next time around". I thought that was stupid, because the old deal sits on here as a positive deal for every search on this business for eternity, and some people will just look at the title and comments and not realise it wasnt actually a deal.

I think we need to petition them to fix this, it's a joke.

            • +1

@Jackson: Funny thing is… devs went out of their way to put time limits on things, and preventing users from changing votes. Algorithmically, it would've been much easier to leave it open, as it is on any other forum or social site.

              • +1

@wisdomtooth: I guess it's because they want to divert activity to current deals so that current links are higher on some level of SEO? Surely enough money is made on this site that they don't really need to do things like that

                • @Jackson: If that's the case, I'm pretty sure there are other ways to achieve the same result.

  • +4

Cancelled and negged! What a waste of time.

  • -2

FWIW, I bought from this company a year or so ago and my baby outgrew the size and customer service was very good about it.

It's disappointing surely for those who have tried to buy it, but the sheer outrage here that people didn't get something for free is surprising and a bit dramatic.

This was obviously their mistake and it's easy for consumers to say "well they should honour it", but how many orders were there? How viable is that loss to a small business? This isn't Huggies or Pampers or another multinational.

    • +1

      Dear jolee3,

Thank you for showing your interest in Comfy Koala Baby Nappies. Among many options available, the fact that you have chosen a small company like ours, this really means a lot to us. We certainly do.

As we try to fulfil orders, we have realised a mistake on our side wherein the coupon price for this product displayed 0, which was never our intentions as this would entail disruptions in our business engagements. (Or some random reason based on boardroom discussions). As we try to sustain, this means regretfully, we would be unable to fulfil this particular order. We are truly and deeply sorry for this mistake of ours.

As we try to asses the situation, we would like to do these below things to make sure there is remediation from our part.

      - We review the whole coupon issue process so as there is no cancellations going forward
      - We value customers the most. And would be grateful for any feedback to us

Lastly, we understand you have invested time to make the order. We would be happy to offer 25% discount to this cancelled order should you chose to get. In this case, simply reply and mention of this coupon code WEAREREALLYSORRY25.

We are sorry aging for this mistake and hope to get to service you soon.

      Thankfully,
      Sales Head

Magically half negs would be gone.

      • That too would be terrible marketing. Lots of weasley words for the same outcome. I doubt the bad publicity they bought was worth the money saved on a few dozen packs (especially given that we did pay the shipping!).

    • +2

At the very least their code shouldn’t be off a much more expensive and subscription based product, which is not what the original discount was. I wanted to get this as I am looking to try different brands of nappies with my baby when they arrive to see what works best. I would have been happier with a 25% off the 48 pack one-off, this feels like it is trying to trap people into a subscription product.

  • They backflipped!

  • +1

Had the same cancellation email. Basically screw this company and will carry on with Aldi and reusables. Poor on their behalf tbh. Won't be recommending them now.

I will recommend Baby Beehinds though if you want to go reusable. Great nappies and South Aussie too. Used with both my kids and has saved lots of nappies going to landfill. Buy a big bucket from Bunnos, chuck them in there, throw them in the machine, 60 deg wash, hang them on the line, refold, done. Their covers are great over disposables too and prevent blowouts.

  • Wow was anyonrs order actually not cancelled! Just got my cancellation email now

My name is Mo, I am one of the owners and founders of Comfy Koalas Eco Nappies. I have seen negative reviews coming from people and one of them included a link to this thread and I thought I should respond here directly just to clarify.

On Saturday, something unusual happened. We received thousands of orders of Single Packs in Infant size with this Promo Code. This was alarming, as this promo expired last year. It was a ‘free nappies’ code used as a small test with a brand partner, and was exclusively for a limited number of people who purchased something specific from our brand partner. This promo ran for a short period at the end of 2022.

So we were shocked to see it was circulated online and went viral in this way! Due to a technical error, the promo code had not expired in our back end, which is why it was accepted by our check out. And we’re truly sorry for this oversight. You can rest assured the promo code is properly turned off now and we'll do our best to ensure this doesn't happen again.

We’re a mission led, sustainable, local family business and we’re honestly tickled pink that so many of you want to try our nappies! Our goal has always been to offer better, Eco-friendlier products to as many families as possible - because your baby deserves more than the (mostly) plastic crap that some OS multi-nationals provide.

However, as I’m sure you agree, offering free nappies for all (with a small postage fee) is not a sustainable business model. And that’s why the promo was only limited to a small-print run - an exclusive gift for people who had purchased something from our partner. Never in our wildest dreams did we think it would be posted online and go ‘viral’ in this way. Especially after the promo had finished. We’ve truly learned a lot. And we’re sorry that your order was cancelled and your postage fee refunded. We know you’re disappointed.

This is why I have created a discount code specifically for our Oz Bargain friends who weren’t able to claim the ‘free nappies’ code. We really want to do everything we can to make sure you’re able to try our nappies! Code: OZBGN25 for 25% off your first Monthly Subscription Box, valid until the end of June, 2023. Promo code eligibility criteria is always listed transparently on our website, in our FAQs.

We are not in the business of using dodgy methods to get names for our mailing list, as someone said earlier in the thread. Our customers' data is sacred and our policies are always available on our website (so if you get emails from a Wine Club, it’s not us!). To really show this, we’ve deleted all Oz Bargain customer data from our systems. If you still want to hear from us, simply sign up again via our website homepage.

We always try to do everything possible to keep our customers smiling. And we put our money where our mouth is, offering a 100% Money Back Guarantee. If you look online, you’ll see thousands of reviews that mention the steps we take for our customers (even so far as getting in our car and personally delivering nappies for people who urgently and unexpectedly run out, and live close by. We’re parents - we get it!).

This is why we are so sad to see the negative reviews left by some of you. If you read our reviews to date, it’s clear we’re driven by a noble goal and run our business with hard work and integrity. In the last year alone we have donated 10,000 nappies to the Nappy Collective, who provide nappies to families in crisis. These are families in our community who are facing financial hardship, experiencing or at risk of homelessness, escaping domestic violence, seeking asylum or impacted by natural disasters, like the Northern NSW floods.

Unlike large corporations that sell nappies, we’re a small business, so I get the anger, but I hope you understand this was a genuine error.

Just to reiterate/address some concerns from the thread, all postage cost refunds have been processed, however refunds can take 5-7 working days depending on your bank and what policies they have. Paypal is immediate.

Lastly, I genuinely want to thank you for your interest in Comfy Koalas. We really appreciate your support of an Eco-friendlier nappy solution and I hope you use your new Oz Bargain promo code and try us out.

Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] if you would like more clarification, want to talk about how awesome it is that bamboo nappies exist, or just to yell at me/us.

    Thanks,
    Mo Majam

Unfortunately, you do not meet the specific criteria to receive the promo code you have used and through a technical error on the website your discount was accepted and unfortunately we have to cancel your order and refund you.

This first communication directly implied fault of customer (you, your, you so many times). Sure you were right as no one had purchased anything before. So thus the customers. They found a working code which was legit and hence the purchase. And when baby is involved, this becomes little personal to get the blame for something they didn't do. Pls consider this now as constructive feedback.

Anyway, wish you luck. I wouldn't do business with you though.

      • +1

Yep. I bet nobody took up your mediocre offer either.

    • Good on you for fronting up and giving a good explanation. Probably didn't handle it the best in the first instance, especially in my case as I didn't even get a proper response, I only got a cancellation and refund email saying there was no stock, clearly that wasn't the case.

Also putting money and mouths together means giving a decent deal on a comparable product, which hasn't been offered yet. You could salvage the situation by giving a discount on the original product people missed out on, and then maybe some people could be turned to ongoing customers, but asking for a subscription commitment for only 25% off a bigger order doesn't look great on your side. I feel for you being a small business owner, but to be honest I don't understand your business model or how it can work when you have to pay for shipping for nappies that cost significantly more than ones you can pick up from the shop or have delivered free from Amazon. And I have solar panels and drive an EV and 2 of my kids got raised in washables so I am a believer in sustainability who's willing for do extra work to be green.

On a side note I would be interested in the manufacturing process used for the bamboo nappies, bamboo is sold as a green product but in reality you need to consider bamboo products on a case by case basis, and there can be a lot of chemical use in the processing of bamboo which basically leaves you with the equivalent of a plastic product.
