Best time to list your items on eBay?

Does anyone have any idea about what's the best time, day of week to list your items on eBay to attract maximum bidders/buyers? Anyone with any info?

  • See what similar items sold for, and see if there's a pattern to the day/time they finished. I would try to end the item at a time your target audience is available to bid. Most people don't seen to use Snipes, and bid live.

  • I find most of my stuff sells on sunday, especially if listing is ending by sunday evening.

so i list for 10 days on a thursday

Sunday evening is the best time to end a listing.

So for a 7 day auction for example, list your item on a Sunday night, and it will end on the next Sunday.
And for a 5 day auction, list it on Wednesday — you get the picture.

Make sure your title is easy to read and there are no spelling errors.

Tuesday for the 5 day listing :)

Ahhh. Yes. I can't count it seems.

    • Ending auction on sunday afternoon / evening has always worked well for me too.

  • Sunday evening seems to be the conventional wisdom going around. I've made the mistake of having it finish on a Sunday morning before and things sold for a fair bit less than they would normally.

I don' think anyone can say with any certainty what day of the week is best. I've always done Thursday night as I read years ago that it was one the prime times. I think what's more important is the time the auction finishes.

If you really wanted to break it down technically, you'd have to factor in what the product is and who your target audience is. E.G. Perhaps if you are selling baby stuff to have end time earlier, video games later. Furthermore, you need to see what competing sellers are doing. E.G. Every year I buy my Australian Open tickets on eBay. Sometimes there will be competing auctions finishing minutes from each other. So unless I am at my computer, I can't adjust my bid up or down for the latter auction.

Most importantly, eBay always pushes the extras like include a thumbnail, picture etc as they increase final price of your sale. That's no joke, it definitely helps. Don't skimp on the extras or details.

Fwiw, most of the extras mentioned are free (pictures, supersize picture, gallery listing, etc) now but you still have to select them when listing.

@OP: Depends too on what you're selling. If it's something say brand new, then list it Buy-it-now for the longest period you can and then it doesn't matter what time to finish. Otherwise, if a used item, what everyone else said above. I end my items on the weekend and seem to get good results. Imho, worst time to end is during the day on a weekday.

  • Sunday, 6:30-7:30pm

    I'm a silver powerseller btw.

  • I've been selling on Ebay for years now. From experience, there's no 'better' day although the time of the day your auction ends makes a difference.

    Best time is between 6:00-8:30pm.

  • If you have brilliant feedback and a quality item, nobody cares what time it finishes, they'll be all over your item like flies on shit
