I usually like Coffee on Cue but I wouldn’t pay more than $33 per kg delivered like from their previous offers. I tried recently the Aldi Lazzio Dark blend, Coffee on Cue’s coffee is not 4 times better but costs 4 times more the price. 1kg $11.99 at Aldi. Sorry Coffee on Cue, I give this a big miss!

I commented on this in previous deals, but you brought quite a compelling example to the table. Sorry: Australia is a small country, but you have roasters everywhere. Of course, coffee culture, but the margins should be incredibly high; otherwise, you would have fewer roasters. Look at the global coffee prices per ton, including the taxes, shipping costs and costs for business, and you will recognise that the business owners will make a lot of money if they are well-organised.

Sometimes, there are 2-3 roasters on one street, and I live in Brisbane, not Melbourne. Even in Italy, you do not have that frequency. And sorry, I would consider Italy as the coffee capital.

Nevertheless, I must admit the coffee on the Cue was one of the only coffees I ordered from these "fancy" roasters, which was really good. The Black Friday deals were good, but I would not buy coffee for these prices. That's simply ridiculous, and as you said, the Aldi coffee is not that bad.

All in all, do not pay those prices. They are a way too high.

      • Ich kann Dir da nur 100% zustimmen! Jawohl!

    • Price was a little disappointing as you mentioned, but I honestly think it's miles ahead of ALDI or anything I've bought from Woolies at the budget end of the spectrum. I've never been disappointed with the product or service, and it happily now replaces the 1-cup of cafe coffee I'd end up getting a day on the budget stuff. Let's hope the next deal is 30% off to get the price near to what it was last time + inflation tax, but for now I bought one to tie me over until that day…

The law of diminishing returns. ALDI beans give many other specialty beans a good run for their money,

That explains why the price wasn't in the email ;)

  • is that the only blend on sale? i prefer something with caramel notes rather than dark choc
