BPC Tech PC Build Policy Update

Hi all,

Thank you for all the support & love from all of you guys!

We are having a policy update on PC Build.

Regarding the matter of pre-installing graphics cards in our PCs, we have experienced certain difficulties with the newer and larger RTX 40 Series graphics cards becoming dislodged and causing damage to the computer during shipping.

In light of feedback from our customers, we have decided that if certain models of graphics cards cannot be safely transported once installed on the motherboard, we will refrain from installing them onto the motherboard altogether. As a consequence, we will be implementing the following policy:

For customers who choose to pick up their orders locally, we will pre-install the graphics card onto the motherboard as usual.
For customers who opt for shipping, we will assess the graphics card's stability during transit within the computer chassis to determine whether it can be pre-installed or not. Please note that MSI, ASUS, and PNY RTX 40 Series GPUs will not be pre-installed, but will be delivered separately in a securely packed parcel to ensure maximum safety during transit.

Should you still desire your GPU to be pre-installed, we advise you to contact us directly. However, we must caution that such a request entails a greater risk of physical damage during transit. In the event that damage does occur during transit, we will do our utmost to pursue a claim against the courier, though we cannot guarantee the outcome or time frame of this process.

In addition, we will provide detailed video and image tutorials alongside your system to aid you in installing the GPU yourself.

Should you encounter any difficulties during the installation process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via our support email, phone, or Facebook (Messenger) for assistance.

As a precautionary measure, we recommend that you retain the original packaging box and foam inserts for your PC in the event that it requires warranty service. This is because we have previously encountered issues where insufficient protection during shipping has resulted in damage to returned PCs.

Makes sense. Thanks for the update.

  • Cheers for the update.
I recently had a 4070 TI build shipped and it was packed quite securely, but i can imagine it causing quite a bit of damage if it got loose

  • On the one hand this is a great idea, and you're putting the supporting documentation in place to make it a success. But with reports of how finicky the 12VHPWR connectors are (even for experienced builders), this also feels a bit risky to be asking people who already aren't confident enough to build their own PC to then ensure it's fully plugged in and won't overheat and melt etc

If you're buying a high-end PC you should ideally have, or gain, some small experience in how to remove and install a GPU. Certainly enough Youtube videos if you need handholding. This is a great policy to have.

I'd love to see more non-standard motherboard designs like the ones with PCIe at the top of the CPU and at right angles - it won't fit an ATX case, sure, but it would be innovating away from the PCIe connector becoming a structural/mechanical component like it is now.

  • what sort of damage was happening? I'd say your store wouldnt be alone with this issue…

Nice work on the update and giving options to people.

  • Impressed :-)

  • Merged from Does BPCtech still install an unactivated Windows on their pre-builts?

When you don't select Windows 10 option to buy the license straight from them, I know they at least used to install unactivated Windows 10 like TechFast still does, but I could have sworn I remembered a post somewhere stating they weren't allowed to do that anymore. But I can't seem to find that info anywhere now so maybe I was misremembering.

Hopefully someone with a very recent pre-built from them can confirm for me?

    • I've merged this into their recent forum post thread so that the rep can directly respond to your query.

Note that you can also directly message the rep if you want an answer sooner. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/31653

Glad I read this as I was considering BPC for my next build. I bought a 3060ti from BPC to replace a faulty 1080 on my current build last year, so I'm not afraid of doing it. But when I buy a pre-built PC, even if it's for me and not a relative, I don't want to have to do further assembly. There is always a chance I'm going to be blamed for something going wrong when it comes to warranty. Usually I don't touch my PC internals during the warranty period other than perhaps to add storage or if I think a component needs re-seating. Other PC manufacturers have worked out how to ship complete PCs without damage. You only have to look at channels like Gamers Nexus to see how it's done. So this puts BPC systems into a firm "do not buy" category for me personally, which is a real pity.
