Should be under warranty. Check with apple support?

  • Have you tried a different cable?

This has to be one of the most annoying 'features' that iphones have.

    Tried wireless charging?

    • same issue

  • Maybe take it to an Apple store if you’re close to one?

  • Go to one of the Apple stores and get someone to look at it. They will diagnose the issue for you. As others have said it should be under warranty, the odds are they will give you a refurb as a replacement. I hope you have a recent backup.

  • Just posting this for future reference…

Technically the iPhone ships with a 1 year manufacturer warranty but that is superseded by Australian consumer law which covers it for at least 2 years. This is not an Apple thing, this is the way consumer law works in Australia for all sales.
Details can be found here; https://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/au/
"Without limiting consumers rights, Apple will provide its own remedies equivalent to those remedies in the consumer guarantee provisions of the Australian Consumer Law at any time within 24 months of the date of purchase. For the avoidance of doubt, Apple acknowledges that the Australian Consumer Law may provide for remedies beyond 24 months for a number of its products."

Everything Apple under 2 years is definitely covered. Over 2 years comes down to many factors but I've managed to get Apple to repair 5 year old notebooks in the past. The most important factor affecting your chances of getting something repaired after 2 years comes down to how you treat the staff that are making the decision.

Apple have amazing service, they will most likely just give you a new phone on the spot. If you can't get to the store then they may just post you a new phone and then you send back to old one it the box that the new one just arrived in (at no cost).
