Many airlines would classify this as oversized baggage as total dimensions exceed 140cm (domestic) and 158cm (international). Whether they check this is another question.
The number of times i have flown overseas with an oversized baggage all they care about is i dont exceed the weight limit.
ive had a karen eyeball my carry on and wouldn't issue me a boarding pass unless I checked it in (costing me extra) stating it was oversized even though it fit in the bag cage checker.
