Travelling Laptop for Study (Accounting) - Budget $1500

G’day guys, starting an accounting course online soon, while still working my day job, which involves quite a bit of flying to overseas (about 2 weeks a month). Just wondering what are some recommendations for light weight and long battery life laptops for study while I’m away on trips. Budgeting up to $1500.

Thank you.

Metabox Flo looks good but already 1499 without windows. Surface laptop looks good too.

M2 Macbook Air via Edu for ~$1500 or M1 for ~$1200 with discounted gift cards @ 10%.

      You stole my thunder.

I am not a Big Fan of MacOS, and I prefer using windows (easier to use, more logical etc).

      Cons for the MB
      * No Touchscreen
      * Screen is expensive to replace (Acer is far cheaper) if broken
      * No Right click on trackpad (unless you press Ctl)
      * MacOS (though you can buy parallels etc)
      * Safari (which is why I use Chrome Browser)
      * Only 2 USBC ports, so investing in a Hub/Dock is wise.

      • I don't understand some of the cons that you have listed

        • Two flinger click is right click, very easy and intuitive
        • You can download Firefox/Chrome to use, I don't use Safari on my Macbook.
        • Two flinger click is right click, very easy and intuitive.
          I'll try that,

          Wow it works. ;)
          Thank you.

        • Ubar is a a really good App/PRG that I purchased, which gives it more of a logical Desktop like Windows. I just wish you could move the Min/Max to the Right hand side.

      • yes but 18hr battery life and 1.3kg are huge pros.

        • Yes they are. The battery life is really good.

  • Just get a MacBook Air and stop whinging! ;P

  • As long as it has excel it should be fine!
