Cheapest place to buy Neighbours Be Gone Trees?

Does anyone know where would be the cheapest place to buy Neighbours Be Gone Trees? I think they are called Pitosporums. We want to get quite a few of them & we want to buy them as large as possible so we dont have to wait as long for them to grow. I have seen the bigger sized ones for $16 each at Bunnings. Anyone know of anywhere else for a cheaper price?

  • I believe they are actually Syzygium smithii or Acmena smithii.

Chris and Maries? Hello Hello LOLOLOL

  • I have three varieties of Pittosporum in my yard. James Stirling, Silver Sheen and Green Pillar. Both the James Stirling and Silver Sheen varieties are very rapid growers. Green Pillar is a much slower grower so I'd avoid that variety if you want something rapid.

I prefer Pittosporum over other fast growers because their small leaf size makes them very easy to trim back with either shears or a hedge trimmer.

I suggest you approach nurseries and see they will give you a lower price for a bulk order.

  • depends on how fast you want them. if you need lots then taking cuttings will get you lots the cheapest. it's really easy if you use a 2L softdrink bottle as a mini-greenhouse. probably take about 6 weeks to root though.

also check http://evergreengrowers.com.au. they might have tube stock (little ones) of the ones you are after.

  • Pittosporums are far quicker than lilypillies (syzygium or Acmena). The Lilypillies will take time for their roots to establish before they'll put on any real growth.
