OMG these noodles are epic !

If you havent tried these then you need to buy some.

These used to go for $3-4 for a pack of 5 before COVID at my local Korean grocers :(

    • Bought. Eaten. Enjoyed. Totally agree!

  • Which Hanaro is this please😃

    • North Lakes , but should be at all stores

  • Cheers I will stock up. RIP not NSW.

    Actually this is COLD noodles:)

    • does it have to be cold? if they much different if eaten hot?

      • +1

This noodle is named Spicy Cold noodle and all Korean restaurant (not this instant variant) will serve it with slightly frozen broth or ice.
Yes, this is made to be eaten cold not hot, but I can't stop you if you like it that way :)

If you prefer hot noodle I'll go for Samyang Hot Chicken Flavour Noodle.

        • Can you just buy the bottle of sauce? I think my wife has done it that way before.

          • @ozbs25: Yes, they also sell bottle of sauce in store.

    • Love iced noodles.
My favourite in summer at local Korean restaurant.
Eaten in Korea, & iced Soba in Japan.
      Off to Hanaromart 🇰🇷

  • PS. It is national wide in NSW as well.

    • Where?

      HANARO MART
      Queensland No.1 Asian Grocery Supermarket

No listed locations outside of Qld!

        There two Strathfield and Penrith.

        • That's great!
Stange they dont list them on their website. Mainly on Facebook.

  • Tried 2 stores (Westfield Carindale & Westfield Mt Gravatt) - not stocked in 6 or 20 pack.
Showed photo - "we don't have the space".
    So try larger stores.
Bought 5 pack for $5.50. Still good value.

  • Found 20pack for $20 at Sunnybank store.
No sign. It's in white box of 4 x 5packs. High up on top of fridge at back. Only a few there.
    Ask staff for assistance!

  • A vid to prepare $1 packet Noodles??
    It was helpful👍

Just ate - far better than expected - delicious!

Young Korean guy serving me raved about the taste.

Cooled the noodles in the bowl in the freezer.

Added a boiled egg, toasted sesame seeds, sesame oil & served with shredded bbq chicken. Tasty!

Washed down with cold Makgeolli - an indulgence here given the price (very cheap in S Korea).

Had run out of suggested Nori flakes & no cuke. Added to shopping list with a few extra ingredients.

Going back for another 20 pack!
Local store may sell 4 x 5pack at same price.

Need pickled daikon radish and kimichi. Kongnamul muchim too

      • Yes, pickled daikon radish and kimchi were on my shopping list. A Korean meal without kimchi??

Considered bean sprouts (similar to cuke - for the cooling crunch), but Kongnamul muchim is a better idea.
        Thanks.

Will ask for suggestions at the store. They were eager to help. We talked about Korea & Korean food for nearly an hour.

(Haven't prepared much Korean food. Have a good Korean restaurant 2k away, as good as I've tasted in Korea.
Mainly visited Korean friends - one became Vice Consul for S Korea in Sydney. A handy contact when she returned to Seoul.)

The Sunnybank store is surrounded by Korean shops - better than shopping at the local Westfield Hanaromarts - outside Woolies!! Was greeted by firecrackers at opening of Chinese store nearby.

Haven't visited Korea in far too long 🇰🇷

Haven't visited Sunnybank until today in over a year!! (Free bus 5 min walk from home goes there. So no excuse!)

Back to the Makgeolli & dreams of tasty Korean food!

Have you been to Moa Mart yet? It's across the road from Hanaro. My wife likes to shop there. Different products and regular specials. May be worthwhile visiting both if you have time. I think you can see the specials at the various Korean stores if you join their Kakao talk things. One thing to note, the parking out the front of Moa Mart is peak Sunnybank parking. I do my best to park out on the road somewhere nearby if we aren't shopping at Hanaro too.

@ozbs25: Thanks. Visited Moa Mart yesterday for first time. Looked like some good prices & as you say different products (lots of ingredients).

But it's early days exploring Korean ingredients, for me. Spent more time in Japan than Korea. And travelling through a country - we tend to enjoy prepared meals, rather than prepare them using local ingredients. I do love spicy Korean food!!

Had a great day in Sunnybank🎉
Met some interesting people, had great chats, & got good advice. I usually travel overseas to have similar interesting experiences!!

Travel there by (free for me) Great Circle bus directly from home. So as long as I'm not tempted to buy too much - a low stress experience. Cars & parking around there can be a bit crazy.

Didn't expect hunting for a Deal would be so good!
            Going back to Sunnybank tomorrow!

  • Best before Date on carton: 26/11/23

On way home, went back to local store @Westfield Carindale. Staff weren't as happy & helpful as Sunnybank store!

Asked young Australian on counter, surely this store has this Deal. Bought it at Sunnybank store…
"Na! Have to go to that store."

Showed photo to Korean staff stocking shelves - took a minute to fine tune out communication. He went outside to storeroom & brought back carton.
    Scanned @$34-$14promo = $20!

Picked up pickled daikon radish and kimchi on sale.

Enjoyed having the Aussie sell me this special - that she said they didn't sell😜

  • [UPDATE] Still on sale - same price.

Bought another 2 boxes of 20 last night at Carindale. Love these cold noodles💘
    5 packs are still $5.50

    • Deal updated👍
