    very clean

This is one of the best looking in the Presage series. Very tempting.

  • I don't even wear a watch and I'm tempted. What a nice-looking watch.

    • +6

I think it would look good on you.

      • +5

        stop flirting you

  • This thing looks gorgeous, don't understand the appeal of the inset 24hr hand though

    • Yeah, I could go without the 24 hour sub dial.
It can be handy if the watch has a date complication.
Without a date, it doesn't have much practical value.

But hey, we don't buy these watches for their practical value! Lol

  • +1

For a dress watch this is a humongous diameter.

  • +2

I think it would have been better without open heart.

    • I kinda agree. It kinda ruins the classy understated look.

    • $399 last year

    • You and me both. I see a skeletonised or partially movement and I look up for the steampunk hat and goggles. That Seiko think it's a clean, dressy or versatile design baffles me as these stick out among the presage line.

      • I like the other pressage watches. Elegant and understated.

        Like this..

        • I've owned the Cocktail Martini, and I've seen the Cocktail Blue Moon in person before.

Mainly I thought that the dial pattern wasn't refined enough IRL (sunrays are too thick), and the silver-cream of the Martini dial didn't suit me. I ended up flipping it at cost. The Blue Moon dial seemed a little too dull in colour even considering the sunburst.

  • +3

I like the colour composition of the version with a red XII, red seconds hand, and red SS hand.

    40mm would be better though.

    • I hadn't seen that one. Those few touches of burgundy look fantastic!

      • I concur. It lifts the look of the whole watch from bland to desirable.

    • +1

I agree. 38mm to 40mm is the ideal dial size for normal wrists. My favourite is still Presage Mojito which is 38.5mm. Absolutely stunning dial.

  • is this the lowest it's been? what's the usual rrp?

    • Not sure if this is the cheapest. It looks like you would usually pay at least $85 more so a decent saving.

  • Bought one an hour ago and was going to post a deal. Been eyeing this one for a while now, think was was $585 normally at Starbuy but a few other places selling for more than that.

  • How bad is the wrist watch rabbit hole?

    • I know right. Its like having a brand new car with a ding on its panel. Unsightly.

      • +1

I think you may have misread that.

        • Yeah. I misread it.

    • It can be a costly interest.

      • Oh that kind of rabbit hole? Yeah.

        Just like alice in wonderland.

We could go on and on.

    • It's bad.

The screams of pain from my wallet testify to this.

      • I guess you dont have financial officer that would put your family jewels in a vice if you buy another watch.

        • get that finance officer into watches…problem solved.

      • And the screams of distress from my partner.

    • +1

Bad - it gets you big time. Buy your one lifelong watch and suddenly you end up with $30k+ worth of 'lifelong watches'
But the good thing is, they don't depreciate like lots of hobbies and if buying right, you can get most of your money back if you fall out of love with a watch.
Just don't pay retail or something no one ever heard of before and no one wants.

    • Is there a good rabbit hole?

      • The one that ends up with rabbit stew?

  • I have been eyeing off a watch for ages to wear to formal dressy things, but im well out of my depth here, Im firmly in the buy something nice once camp though even if its expensive/more then I need.

Given I would only wear it once a month, am I kidding myself looking at something like this that would need to be rewound etc before use? does letting it stop cause any issues long term?

    • If you dont wear a watch all the time you are better off wearing an eco drive or solar watch.

This way you dont have to worry about having to wind them everytime you have to wear it after not having worn it for a month. And if you have one with a perpetual calendar you don't have to adjust the date either.

      • +5

On the other hand there is nothing wrong with buying an auto watch & wearing it once a month. It takes a minute to give it a few winds, set the time from your phone & put it on your wrist.

        • Im just speaking from my lazy boy experience. I use to have a seiko 5 automatic. But ever since getting 2 eco drives. Just can't go back to manual winding an automatic watch.

Even got a satellite wave so it does world time via satellite. For even more of a lazy boy.

          • @xoom:

            • satellite - That works in Australia?
            • @onlinepred: Yup. Sure does. You talking about radio frequency. That one dont work here.

Well some parts up north not down south.

              But satellite certainly works.

              • @xoom: Oh yep I was thinking radio wave, not GPS. Most of my basic quartz watches have kept accurate time for nearly 5 years being barely a minute off. Really have to be lazy to have GPS hahaha - or travel a lot

Really have to be lazy to have GPS hahaha - or travel a lot

Abit from column A and a bit from column B.

        • Agree. Also watch winders for those so inclined. I know there is a lot of back and forth if they are worth risking premature wear or not.

          • +1

@Skullytor: Got it. Imma get jeeves to wind my watches from now on. 🙃

        • +2

Yeah, I have no issue setting the time on one when I need to use it.

          tempting…

        • +1

x2. I rotate watches every 2 days and therefore I wind and set a watch every 2 days. Literally takes 1 minute and actually it makes me mindful of the watch I am wearing, rather than the "throw on and go" mentality where you almost pay no attention to what is on your wrist.

    • Look at the mojito presage as it's smaller and more dressy IMO. Looks amazing. I got it to wear now and then, I find I wear it a lot. Just looks incredible.

  • Too much going on for me, for this watch - 2/3 dial hatching, open heart AND 24 hour hand. I personally don't find that to be Zen at all. Seiko could have chosen just one of those elements and made that the design focus.
