Building New Computer, Should I Install Windows 10 or 11?

Hi

I am building a new computer and i am unsure if I should install Windows 10 or Windows 11. Is there a reason to choose one over the other.

Also, what do you think of https://www.cjs-cdkeys.com/, as they have Windows 10 and 11 for $12USD, but i am unsure if they are safe. You can pay with PayPal so there is a little bit of protection.

Thank you for any help.

Win 11 user experience is less user friendly than Win 10. Plus you MUST have a Microsoft account to be able to install and use your pc. In Win 10 you are able to bypass this requirement.

Nope, not for later versions of windows 11. I’ve just recently rebuilt a laptop with windows 11.

      • It's good that they changed this. I still don't like Win 11 common user experience though.

Yes and no, you have to trick into thinking you don;t have a connection by turning off the wireless on your router. And there was an 'F10' manoeuvre I had to do running one up the other day but I don't remember if it was related to installation or not. What IS a major PITA is 'windows S mode' which I haven't figured out how to turn off without logging into the MS store which you do need an MS account for.

      • any issues with old laptop drivers ? do you manually install them or let windows does it all

        • On my i7, most drivers are available through windows

You can skip that process easily enough during install:

      1. Disable the Internet connection (Wi-Fi / LAN cable) before starting setup.
      2. Windows will display a "Let's connect you to a network" or similar screen.
      3. On that screen use Shift + F10 key to open the command prompt window.
      4. Type OOBE\BYPASSNRO and press Enter (allow system time to reload back in to Windows setup).
      5. On next boot "Let's connect you to a network" screen is displayed, you are shown a "I don't have Internet" allowing you to choose "Continue with limited setup", by creating a local account (same as Windows 10).

word is that they will be putting the old features back.

      https://www.techradar.com/news/microsoft-slowly-but-surely-a…

Someone found some strings in the code that suggests that a taskbar group setting are being added soon

      SystemSettings_DesktopTaskbar_GroupingMode
      SystemSettings_DesktopTaskbar_ShowLabels
      SystemSettings_DesktopTaskbar_SecondaryMonitorsGroupingMode

They just need to make this change and I'll be happy enough to upgrade to W11.

      • True, but even if it's added back I can't see any other benefits for my daily driver usage.

I think I went to Win10 from 7 because of Xbox Game Gar and DirectX (as I recall vaguely) but Win11 really doesn't have any killer features to justify the swap. Maybe DirectStorage eventually? But I don't have any games nor hardware that'll provide that benefit yet.

    I customise settings - Choose Windows 10
I don't need to customise settings - Choose Windows 11

Also, from what I understand, if you are using a 13th gen Intel CPU with Performance and Efficiency cores the scheduler in Windows 11 is better at sending processes to the correct cores.

This may also be a factor with the new 7xxxX3D chips from AMD as well (only one die has the 3d cache on the 7900X3D and 7950X3D).

Windows 11 is slightly better, but there isn't heaps of difference.

It is doubtful MS is getting any money when you buy these questionable keys. No reason to give money to these shady groups. Either buy a legit key from an authorised reseller or there are easy to find activation scripts for Windows if you want to pirate. I would say more, but I doubt it is allowed.

Win11 but do your research (youtubes) on privacy first so you can configure like a sane person. Otherwise Mr Gates will be playing with your bottom whilst you sleep.

  • Don’t spend money on a “cheap key”. Either pay for a legit copy or just do it for free using the slmgr trick (just google it). Up to you but it’s not worth spending even $5 for a fake key

    • The keys can get bound to ur account now. So it’s good
