Magneto Pintail Swallow Longboard Skateboard $74.95 + Delivery @ Smooth Sales

90

Hi OzBargainers,

We're doing a special on the whole range of Magneto Skateboards. Most places range these boards (talking about the whole collection) anywhere between $120-$400. If you're looking for a stylish board, these are pretty rad.

The pintail series is a modern take on a classic. Inspired by SoCal surf roots in Carlsbad CA, these boards are made for cruising and carving. The decks are made with a dark-stained maple veneer with clean graphics and crisp lines. The wheels are big and soft which smooths out the ride under your feet. Instead of covering the top of the deck with boring black grip tape, a clear sand grit finish is used to show off the top of the deck while still providing good traction.

The Swallow shape has a swallowtail that is typically found on shorter boards. The design should inspire you to carve harder and shred up the road.

This seems like a genuine deal. Most other stores are around the $200 mark except, of all places Harvey Norman who have them for $100.

Just got one. $20 shipping to regional. Stacked with welcome discount to take the edge off the cost of shipping! Will post here for review when it arrives!

    • How long did the welcome email/code take to come through?

Edit: Check your junk mail if you don't receive the welcome email!

    • Mine came today. It looks pretty cool. I didn’t realise there were 3 different colour combos but no option to pick the one you want. I think it was random from the factory. The board is super comfy!

  • Spoke to a friend who's been skateboarding for a couple of decades - he said you're better off spending the same money on a good condition second hand one from a premium brand. The quality of the wheels and trucks will get better durability than some of these more generic skateboards.

Has a lot of positive reviews online. Google reviews show 4.8/5 from over 550 reviews.

and how many of those reviews are from people who actually know about skateboards?

        • +1

          Well the first review reads:

I am 38 and have been longboarding off and on for 26+ years. My kids got into skateboarding recently so I decided to join them; but a $200 longboard was not in the budget right now. After reading some reviews I decided to take a chance on a Magneto. Let me tell you, I cannot tell the difference between this board at $80 and those boards. Guess i've been overpaying all these years. The board itself looks great and has really nice flex to it; not too much; not too little, you can really carve it up at low or high speeds. The board is super stable. Yes the trucks are generic, the wheels and bearings are house brand, but ****** if i can tell the difference, they work just as well as any name brand trucks i've ever ridden. - Rick V

          So at least one….

@ArcherVice: doesn't exactly help your case when that "reviewer" even admitted he couldn't tell the difference between no-brand hardware and those that have established reputation amongst skaters.

            • +1

@tdw: I believe what he meant was that he couldn't see a noticeable difference, not referring to his knowledge of branded vs non-branded.
This is denoted by his follow-up comment "Guess i've [sic] been overpaying all these years".
He's got 26 years of long-boarding experience, not to mention another 503 5-star reviews that agree with him.

@tdw: Why are you trying so hard to put the deal down ? If you don't want to buy one then you're wasting your time here - there's no case to answer :
