Looking for a 12 Month Sim, Is The $249 for 260GB (Boost) a Good Deal?

I am looking to spend the equivalent of $20-$30 on a sim only plan that has unlimited calls and texts and 20+ GB a month. I have found a Boost mobile sim which has 260GB over 12 months for $249 and was wondering where this deal lies compared to the other deals I see popping up all the time. I have seen some boost mobile deals which seem to return a profit but I don't have the time to be changing my sim card every month so I wanted just one sim for 12 months. Additionally, I was wondering what would happen at the end of the 12 months with the Boost mobile plan I am thinking of getting? Would I be able to recharge for the exact same deal, have to get a new sim card from Boost or change provider because the Boost mobile deals are for new customers only?

  • I dont know if there is this deal still there but I got 50gb with unlimited calls and text for $15 per month with circle.life and a student bean deal, maybe worth checking if its still there

  • that's a good deal if you need international call along with quite a decent data allowance with Telstra coverage. otherwise, you want to look into Kogan mobile or amaysim.

  • Do you know what network provides best reception in your area? It will vary but pick the place you'll need it the most. Then choose a telco from there.

  • Yes, although i've only ever taken it out with the 250+50 bonus - 300gb offer which lasts me around 10 months.

Currently on kogan and presently surprised (even if it isn't Telstra)

  • Just port your number to another cheap provider after the 12 months. Good price for a large data allowance, if you need it.

Depends on what good deal means to you.

To most Ozbargainers, good deal means something like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/761990

aka being paid to use mobile services

If you needed whole year plan Coles mobile has a 200GB deal for $169

  • $1 per GB is where it's at - any time you can do better you're winning

  • If you dont need all that data you can get Woolworths mobile 180GB for $200 and they will give you 10% off a shop once a month (if you shop with them). Works out for me that I save at least $240 a year on shopping so I'm making $40 on the phone plan.

You don't get access to the full Telstra network like you do with boost but they do you the telstra network.

  • Any tips for recharging a Telstra 12 month plan? Is there some sort of gift card option?
