  • Im looking to go around late november/early december and come back mid january.. am i better off to wait to see if prices come down a bit? They are around $4000 return for me to buenos aires.

I personally would for the main reason that demand for flying is going to drop significantly as the interest rate hikes bite

In addition, supply (i.e. # of planes flying in/out of Australia) is steadily increasing to pre-2020 levels

Finally, business travel (which makes up a big % of most airlines' profits) is still below pre-2020 levels, hence they'll need to 'subsidise' these with getting as many leisure travellers to pick up the slack

That's a peak period, prices will only go one way.
The idea of higher interest rates will not make the prices go lower in this year or next (domestic prices possibly, international, not at all).

Unfortunately it’s school holidays, they won’t come down. Qantas has already sold off 40 Premium Economy and 190 Economy seats for QF2 in Mid December.

    • That's the most peak period you could book, unfortunately prices are unlikely to come down.

Wonder if I could upgrade to business with points

Awesome price post COVID but unfortunately the civil unrest in Peru means we probably can't visit there :(

  • I was hoping Qatar would drop their prices as well, as I have credits there.

    Need to fly in August!

    Thanks op!

  • i have never use one of this services smartfares, BYOjet, Aunt betty, budget air. i looks and the reviews are pretty bad, anyone got experience using this ? and witch ones to avoid.
    thanks !

I have travel with Latam few times and all was smooth. Every airline will have terrible flights here and there… easy to find on YouTube.
I was more after experiences with those web pages

You only have to travel Latam to understand why they are cheap. If you want to be left stranded by them, feel free to pay your way to some pain. I know plenty of people who have been ditched by Latam on their way to or from other South American destinations.

      • Planes over booked
      • Pilots sitting on tarmac ready to leave only to be told they've flown too many hours and whole plane has to disembark and wait another day
      • Connecting flights are over booked and left at Santiago airport for days until another flight becomes available.
      • Customer service is appalling
      • Lost name in the system for a child travelling.

It's like insurance with wings, you might get what you paid for plus a whole lot more pain. You might also get lucky.

  • I agree that LATAM is terrible. People think that Qantas is bad - LATAM is so so so much worse.

    • Wait, that's not even a comparison! LATAM is a 3rd world airline; it can be compared to Aerolineas Argentinas or AeroMexico; the comparables to Qantas is British Airways, Lufthansa, United and American Airlines, KLM, etc.
