Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 Gen9 - $1799. Good Deal?

I've been looking for a new laptop for a while and it looks like Lenovo is doing some sales across their range.

I came across this one in particular.

Looking to get some people's opinions on whether it's good value for what it is, and whether there are cheaper alternatives if I don't need so much compute power.

    Gen 11 is "coming soon" and i5-1135G7 is also 2 generation old. I guess you are looking for a well made light weight business laptop. Maybe ThinkPad T14s AMD Gen 3? Slightly cheaper, much faster CPU/GPU, and I think the build quality & durability is on-par with X1 Carbon (but different material hence heavier at 1.23kg).

      Thanks for the reply. You're spot on with your guess and I think you've convinced me.

      Would you expect the price to drop when they release the new generation?

    I bought a few of the i7 variant (inluding the one I am using now) a couple of years ago for about the same price.

    Laptop is still decent but I would be inclined to look at another option or wait for the new gen.
