Car Noise When U Turning

Hey guys
Have a car noise when only u turning (can't rem if right or left but will check tom). It's like a brrrrrrrr sound. Doesn't happen whilst turning if it isn't a u turn i.e if right or left turn.

So something that happens only during u turn
Could it be the cv joint?
Planning to take it to the mechanic

Cheers

Would hope you aren't making a left-hand u-turn, you'd need to be on UsBargain or MakeBargainsGreatAgain.

Sounds like a steering rack/cv joint if it only happens on full/significant lock.

Cause left hairpin turns and driving in carparks don't exist in Australia?

Let me educate you on Galston Gorge

Could be the power steering pump/motor. Normal sound if you're going to the stops of the wheel rotation, which would commonly occur during a 180 turn.

Thread is useless without a sound file or video to listen.

    • …. pump/motor/belt…
You beat me to it, but…:-)

    Most likely

Planning to take it to the mechanic

Then wait and see what they have to say.

At a guess, CV joint. Presumably it happens when you’re at full lock?

    try doubling the speed?

    • Handbrakies
      .

  • CV is usually more of a clicking noise generally

Standard wheels and tyres? If you've gone to a wider tyre and/or different wheel offset the tyre could be rubbing on the body at full lock.

  • Is power steering fluid clean?

    So many possibilities.

With such little clear information, let's stop guessing and wait until you tell us what the mechanic found.

  • OP do the responsible thing, drive the car and hold your phone camera out the window and record whats going on, make sure to lean out as far as you can to get a good filming angle and best noise intake.

  • I'd say it's power steering pump. Check the belt tension.

    • Weirdly now I don't hear the sound when I did a u turn right and left at night

When I make a U-turn at the traffic lights I always get this “Nee-Naa” sound with loads of blue flashing lights

    • In melb it's allowed

  • Could try spraying wd40 around the wheels

    • You are joking aren't you?

  • I turned the wheel fully to the left/right, parked the car, engine off, went under the car with a lash light and thoroughly inspected, found a crack in the cv boot.
