No lad - get the 5700x instead.

Its a cracker CPU - according to Bryan from Tech Yes City - who along with Jufes from FrameChasers is the best Tech guru on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJpRhGSExFw&t=634s`

Seriously GREAT cpu! It's almost a 5800X but only uses 65w. Runs completely cool and does not need anything special to cool it. I don't think mine has run over 50°c. 8c/16t @4.7ghz boost. Fits b550 with a bios update and all x570 boards off the bat. Can't go wrong!

    • I'm very impressed with the 5700X. I'm running one in an ITX build with a U9S - working very well.

X570 was released with the 3000 series and may require a bios update for Ryzen 5000 depending on the board.

      • Can confirm I needed to update my x570 board bios for an upgrade to the 5000 series from 3000.

  • Yea lad, does this mean new mobo / ram but can keep everything else?

    • If you already have a Ryzen CPU can probs keep even mobo and ram too

  • Is afterpay a nuisance to get setup with?

    • It wasn't when I set it up but that was years ago - don't know if its changed since then

  • I would if motherboards were cheaper :(

      This is a 5700X not a 7700X.

  • Nice price. Which motherboard would you recommend? This would be my first build in many years.

  • Coming from a 3600 with X570 Aorus Elite and 6700XT, noteworthy upgrade?

    • I'd think so, but it comes down to what sort of games you play and what other CPU intensive tasks you do.

      • I play mainly Dota 2, RD2 and Tombraider 1080p ultra. Cpu intensive tasks not so much

Given they are somewhat older games then probably not. Unless you are seeing framerate or frame pacing/stuttering issues.

Recently bought this cpu. Despite advertised at 65w tdp, out off the box this cpu was drawing about 130+w when using pbo using ryzen master. I've managed to oc and undervolt it to 4ghz and now its sitting at < 60w on max power draw and temps are even better.
