Use PayPal to Save on Singapore Airlines Credit Card Fees

A heads up for anyone wanting to make a booking on the Singapore Airlines website. For Aussie customers, they charge a credit card fee.

I want to pay with my credit card as it offers automatic travel insurance.

If you use PayPal, to pay by credit card, the fees are not charged.

FYI there is some cheap biz class one way flight from jakarta to london flying Singapore airlines for around $2100 from mid July 2023 through to jan 2024. You can find them on google flights. No idea how long that price will be available.

So if you use Paypal, you avoid the fee, but still get the travel insurance?

Might want to check that this doesn't invalidate your credit card based travel insurance.

Sorry to hear you now have no valid travel insurance

You might want to verify that is classed as a valid way by the CC to enable your 'travel' insurance though.

I just did this recently for travel later this year and for what it's worth, it shows up as Singapore Airlines Travel > Transport in my CC transactions.

    • If you paid it via PayPal, does it considered an international transaction? Does a Credit card charges you international transaction fees?

  • It appears as singapore airlines on your statement even if you use PayPal.

ANZ issued me with travel insurance letter. This was 6 months ago.
