Qatar to Ba Flight Seat Selection

I have flights booked with Qatar later this year from Perth to Doha then to London then I fly to another location in uk with British airways.
Obviously a return flight as well.

I have already picked seats for trip from Perth to London and return which was done with Qatar.
But the British Airways flight even though it’s all on the Qatar booking can’t be booked through Qatar.
i think it asks for a cost for seats is this right?

My Qatar booking was economy convenience which is seat selection not Qatar classic which does not allow seat selection. Yes I know that’s with Qatar but I thought it would be free to pick seats on the ba flight?

Or is this Qatar convenience them only.

I not tried to select seats or followed through to see what happens it does say for the ba flight that it’s free 24 hrs prior.
But with family of 4 might not be seated together.

I expected the ba flight to be free pick of seats is this normal to pay?

Normal for codeshare flights. Most people wont pay for preselection so just make sure you select seats as soon as the free period opens.

  • BA are crap when it comes to seat selection….you even need to pay in business class…..

  • With a long haul flight I expected to be able to select pick seats in advance for free not have to pay for them

  • What happens when you put the PNR number for the BA flight in to the BA website?

    • What’s the pnr

    • I have a Qatar booking reference and ba reference both work on na site.
You go to seat selection and put person on each seat and comes up with cost.
I either pay it or wait 24 hrs prior which I believe is free.
I could have sworn seat selection buying was not a thing before.

  • It depends on your booking fare class,
Just because it’s included on Qatar the codeshare partner may have a different set of rules. BA is a pretty lousy airline these days, isn’t it a one hour l flight anyway? Should be nothing after flying 24

    • Yea 1hr and half it’s not expensive for the pre selected seats but the fact that I paid enough on the whole package I’m reluctant to pay for it.
I maybe just take my chances and see what’s available 24hrs prior.
I assume they will have our kids seated with us but maybe not all together

Unless you have elite status, BA does not offer free seat selection. You can choose your seats for free once the check in window opens. Do this early in the window and you should be fine - IME most people don't bother with advance seat selection on intra Europe flights.

  • Do have a frequent flyer membership for any Oneworld airline, like Qantas ? Some airlines offer free seats to frequent flyer members (ex: SriLankan Airlines). Try to add QFF to BA using PNR (booking reference) at BA manage booking page and try to select seats.

Join free to QFF : https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/discover-and-joi…

    • I have a burgundy privilege club with Qatar I may have a qff membership but would need to check if still valid but I never booked a flight with Qantas it’s Qatar?

    • Yes I have a bronze with qff so what do I do?

      • Try to add QFF to BA using PNR (booking reference) at BA manage booking page and try to select seats. I haven't flown BA so exactly don't know whether they are having free seats

  • I have my flight up with ba but don’t see where I add my qff number
