Recommend Me A Motion Sensor Security Light

I want a reliable motion sensor security spotlight for a 2nd floor balcony. Preferably not wired. It needs to detect intruders without being set off too easily, and have a light that's bright enough to scare them off. It would be great if an alert could be sent to my phone when it's triggered, a camera would be nice but not necessary. It should also be easy to arm/disarm and not need batteries changed more than yearly. There seems to be a lot of cheap stuff out there, I'd prefer to pay extra for something reliable. Is it better to have professionally installed? Or DIY is fine?
Hoping someone else has done some research!
Thanks.

  • Wyze have cameras that have security light and camera built in. Their AI detection is pretty poor, unless my cat suddenly counts as a person. It doesn't even try to detect insects. It is wireless data, but needs mains power over USB.

No such thing, half these mf’s these days don’t even bother covering their face and do the crime during the day anyway

  • Do you own or rent? Wondering about mounting options…

  • tbh a motion sensor security light is a convenience for these guys.

    • Any other security options that are better?

  • +1

Get a Eufy installed if you want proper.

Otherwise for basic motion triggered flood light Costco sells one that is very bright and runs off battery/solar.

I have the Eufy at the front of the garage and the Costco one on the side path where the bins are placed.

  • Any recommendations for battery powered lights with camera?

  • I have an Arlo motion sensor light which works well. Easy install, wireless, sends alerts to my phone and will work in conjunction with my Arlo cameras if I ever get around to linking them. Needs to be recharged more than once a year though, more likely every four - five months. On the plus side, charging is quick via USB.

  • Motion Sensor Security Light

If you just want a Motion Sensor Security Light without the frills (send alert, take pics, etc.), then this one from Kogan that went for $10 is brilliant. Worth much more and will probably cost much more when it's back in stock. Just plug into a powerpoint. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757134

My next door neighbour probably curses me every time I go out the back because they built a small extension with her bedroom near where my back light is.

  • Thanks for the Kogan tips! Missed the bargains but still a selection on clearance.
