What You Do about Food Delivery Orders You're Unsatisfied with?

Do you contact the driver, store, or the food delivery support?
Sometimes items are missing in a bundle deal, other times commonly a meal is overly salty or unpalatable.

I've only leave a low star rating/review but what should be expected outcome entitled to?

I've always contacted food delivery support

Why would you contact the driver…its not their fault. Its usually the restaurant.

Still waiting on the Chines meal from Christmas Eve. They left it near the Iron gate. We don't have an Iron gate.

I heard a rumour that you get a limited number of refunds plus I'm lazy. I'll always leave bad reviews for bad food though.

Items missing —> contact support in the app.

Actual meal issue —> contact support in the app.

Subjective preference on taste —> suck it up/place appropriate review.

Contacted support so much they now refuse to provide refunds or do anything basically

    • +1

How many refunds were you able to get before they stopped giving it to you?

      • +1

Probably about 3 or so. Not full refunds just token amounts

I am worried about this currently with Woolies. I am having to contact them for refunds on online orders almost every time I order. Its all fully legit. They have either forgotton stuff, sent me out of date meat, or broken stuff on the way. But I can see how it would look to their customer support. I imagine I'm going to get blacklisted for refunds pretty soon, but it really isn't my fault. Its their incompetent packers and delivery drivers.

I paid the delivery service for a product so they're responsible.

If they want to follow up with the restaurant or delivery driver that's their issue.

I have one of those ozbargain.com.au infrared thermometers for cold delivery. Just take a photo and complain. Uber usually refunds.

Ditto missing stuff. Just photo the lot and say one item missing refund. Usually a partial refund.

Note - am not scamming the platform with false claims

  • With Menulog had an issue where food never appeared. Text chat was quick, issued a voucher. That never appeared.
Called again (weeks later) to get the voucher re-sent. It worked. Yes never used menulog again.
If the food is cold, pick it up yourself.
If the food is bad dont order from that place again.
    Simple.
I think we have more mistakes when my misses picks up takeout, she often has part of the order missing. I blame the patriarchy.

Doordash usually hand out credits - but not always. Every 2nd or 3rd complaint in a row and they usually won't, but once every 5 or so orders you might actually get one. So for example, out of 5 orders which were very late/missing items in the past month, I was able to get a credit for 2 of them.

hurl them back at the driver and tell them they are disgrace to humanity…usually gets me some free vouchers!

Eat and cry, often at the same time.

id watch that…..do you have a youtube channel?

    STOP USING THEM
They provide crap service with NEGATIVE added value for a hefty fee.

  • +4

Unfortunately all apps have shit support.

Vote with your money and stop using them.

    • +1

Unfortunately all apps have shit support.

I actually think the support started out being decent, then they realised how many scammers there are out there. From their point of view, it'd almost be impossible to tell who's a scammer and who's not.

I used Menulog for years, only had a handful of issues over the years. We would have spent a mint with them ordering food for the extended family on lots of occasions. The straw that broke the camel's back is food arrives super cold, Menulog wouldn't help, they blamed the restaurant, the restaurant blamed the delivery driver. Nobody wanted to help. I spoke to the owner of the restaurant and told him the story etc, nothing came of it. So now I've blacklisted Menulog and use Uber eats or order direct whichever is cheaper.

If you have an issue contact the apps support, their default is to push for a small voucher, if you push for a full refund (depending on circumstances) they will honour it.

If they do you wrong use another service or order direct.

If something is missing I contact support and they have always given a refund. But for gross food, I figure thats the dice you roll when you order from a restaurant. I just permaban mentally.

    • +1

      Love the "mental permaban".

I run a mental card system for all businesses … green = on watch, yellow = 3 month suspension, red = 12 month suspension, black = gone.

other times commonly a meal is overly salty or unpalatable.

Go and eat in the restaurant instead… if its shit you can do somethin about it while your there.

    • +1

The service is now probably slower because they are too busy fulfilling online orders.

      • +3

fkin annoying when you go somewhere and the delivery drivers get priority…. even though you've been served first.

        • +1

They get the drivers out becuase they usually have some horrid music blaring, or they're talking loudly to someone via facetime on speakerphone.

  • +3

I've given up on all forms of food delivery … too expensive, too slow, quality often below par.

Other than in hypothetical edge cases there is now no benefit to me at all from home delivery vs. pick up myself.

    • +3

      too slow

Previously, when I was screwed up late at night (ie, pretty much legless), I'd try to order from maccas (that's about a 5 minute walk away in the CBD) and it would often tell me that it'll arrive in an hour…

The thought of an hour just puts me off - so whenever in that situation now, I'd just start the long crawl.. knowing that I'll still arrive back in less than an hour! haha

  • Some are so valuable I'm at the point where I will not complain for fear of getting kicked off the platform . I know some don't see the crazy subsidies that are happening right now during the growth battle .
