Issues with Samsung Fridge/Freezer SRF582DBLS

I've had a few issues with this refrigerator, including water in the bottom crispers and the freezer catching a 1 cm thick sheet of ice at the bottom and back of the freezer. Usually, I've worked around the issues, by emptying the water out of the crispers and knocking the ice out once a month.

However, yesterday, all the freezer items started defrosting, and this morning I had to throw it all out. The freezer is showing -19 degrees so my only thought is either the sensor is misreporting the temperature or perhaps ice is built up around the sensor.

Any ideas?

  • Happens to my Whirlpool fridge/freezer as well (3 years old)… Meanwhile my 25 year old Hoover fridge/freezer has been tip top reliable, minus the rusting.

I think modern appliances are just built to fail.

Seems like a really common issue with this model going by reviews on Samsung's own site:

How old is your fridge? May be able to force them to service under Australian consumer law

"We bought this fridge about 3 years ago and after about 2 years it started leaking water into the crispers. Then about a month ago it started freezing all the veg in the crispers."

"Water suddenly goes into the crisper. The temperature settings change and won’t stay at the temperature that is recommended ."

"Purchased this fridge for our first home, and have always had it freezing over and the vegetable crisper flooding with water. Now the fridge isn’t cooling, sitting at around 15c, spent hundreds of dollars on replacing fridge seals, plumber out and constantly having to get rid of food. On the hunt for a new fridge but steering clear of Samsung!"

"6 years of pain. Repaired 4 times. Samsung design at its best which never be fixed and it keeps leaking every second month."

"This is possibly the worst fridge on the market. The compressor is so loud and the drain tube blocks up with ice causing pools of water in the bottom of the vegetable crisper and puddles of water on the kitchen floor."

"Bought this fridge almost three years ago and for the last year and a half have had nothing but issues with water building up in the crispers."

  • I reckon my parents have the same fridge and I swear they're complaining about the water in the crisper issue now. Honestly turned me off buying Samsung fridge ever again. One did note:

This is possibly the worst fridge on the market. The compressor is so loud and the drain tube blocks up with ice causing pools of water in the bottom of the vegetable crisper and puddles of water on the kitchen floor. So much food wasted!!!

Maybe worth a check of the drain tubes.

  • Samsung is good with thier mobile not with white goods and TV.

You should have gone with Hisense/ Haier or Panasonic/ Mitsubishi.

i have LG which is now running as 2nd fridge in garage for last 22 years and still running and cooling extra bottles and frozen pies.

    • Samsung washing machines are also problematic. We use 8 series Bosch and never have issues, my brother bought some for holiday homes, and they started rusting after ~5-6 years.

  • I've given Samsung a call, they're going to send out a technician to look at the problems. Otherwise, I'm not sure if it's even worth continuing given all the issues this model has had with everyone else.

  • I have SRF533DLS model, having the same issue. It is a known issue with many of the Samsung fridges. My Fridge is 4 years old and failed twice. Samsung is organizing the repair.
Not to mention I had called Samsung over 10 days in a row after they advised "Someone will call you in 1-2 business days", The repair technician is not available until the next 2 weeks.
