Looking to Switch Mobile Networks Due to Poor Customer Service of Current Provider

Hi, I am looking to switch from my current service provider to a new provider.

I am a cheapskate. I am looking for a plan with good data allowance and a good coverage of Australia (including regional) is my Wishlist. I work for a company that does a lot of remote work around the Top end of Australia including Cairns, Darwin and Broome.

My company uses Telstra and my data allocation is low, I don't want to use my company phone for private use. I know Telstra have better coverage than my current provider but is there any other Mobile Virtual Network Operator you can suggested that use the Telstra network?

Any tips outside my Wishlist will be appreciated.

Thanks

Fez

Boost is the only MVNO that uses 100% of Telstra's infrastructure including 5g.

My company uses Telstra and my data allocation is low

If your phone is used as part of work then it should be subsidised/paid for by them. I would suggest you speak to your company about increasing the data allocation if that is what you need. (unless you meant 'my company' in a literally sense and you want to cheap out on it?)

With Boost, I still don't get the same level of experience as using Telstra. There are many cases that I had to set the network to Airplane mode and back again just to be able to use internet and this is experienced on both 4G and 5G

      • Weirdly I get this as well on my S20 FE 5G.

I've never been with Telstra and wasn't sure if the issue is specific with phone or network provider.

Yeah, i get this on S20+ 5G and my wife got intermittent issue on her iphone 13

It's been mentioned on this forum as well by some other users

    • JB Hi-Fi too now.

Are you referring to jb hifi as a MVNO? Afaik they sell telstra plans not provide the service themselves.

Myself and all of my family use Aldi Mobile and have for over 5 years or more. I have never had any issues with reception or had to deal with the customer service for any other reason. Aldi usesTelstra and have heaps of affordable plans with a good amount of data with each plan.

It's up to you to compare the phone plans offered by providers and which network they use.
Have you looked at them all yet? Check their websites and type in your address to see if you get coverage there.

    Belong
    TPG
    Amaysim
    Aldi Mobile
    iiNet

Telstra does have the most coverage in Australia but you should check.
I've just switched recently as well as I am sick of the black spots where I don't get coverage at all on my way to work.
It's all competitive if you ask me. If you want more data, then you pay more per month.
