Selling unused prepaid sim card

Hi all,

I bought a recent Coles Mobile pre paid sim card that I now don't need as my work will be providing me a new phone plan that's paid for. Coles Mobile have said they will not refund me my purchase price for the plan which is really crap from my perspective. Had not even activated it and they just keep my money for nothing.

Anyway i'm just wondering if anyone has sold an unused prepaid sim card on Marketplace of Gumtree? Is there any key risks in terms of privacy / personal data I should be aware of? Is it relatively common to do?

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

I mean Coles don't legally have to refund you your money…

  • Just like a giftcard?

You can walk into a store and buy for cash. Your details are taken when you activate the SIM, not when you buy it.

Are you seriously blaming Coles for not refunding you for your change of mind?

You have the sim card you bought in exchange for money. How is that for nothing?

How about talking to work about your about providing the phone plan before you go out and buy a new one lol

There is no issues with selling unused prepaid sim card. Just make sure it is still sealed. You definitely won't recoup 100% of your cost from it tho.

I would have thought it would be very likely something dodgy would happen. Imagine that, being able to buy a sim registered to someone else :o

      • You can legally transfer the ownership of a mobile number to someone else.
