    Approx pricing $90K-$120K

These prices are before on-road costs… $120k + ORC could get up to around $140-145k drive away

F**k that’s expensive.. I get it’s an EV, but damn!

    • True that.. need a outlander kind of ev for 7 seater.

    • $120K!
how much is the ICE equivalent? usually its whatever the ICE equivalent is +$20K for the EV version or equivalent.

I'm guessing this falls under their Sorento flagship space which is ~$50K Aud, fair bit of premium on top!

TBH i think Kia treading on the toes of the euros might be missing their mark a bit on this.
Admittedly they are likely to have a monopoly on the 7-seater EV market bar a Tesla Model X - which are a bit on the ugly side…
I give it a year until we get the first ones from china for $50-$60k with equivalent features - they're making the most of being first to market in this case.

And i thought a Sorento for $70k was getting ambitious…

If anything surely EV's are more simple and modular to construct - sure we're paying for innovation and research but beyond material costs the labor for building these would be a fraction of a conventional car.

    • But it got revolving seats.. :-p

  • Completely redesigned SUV that looks like a sorento got touched with the 'EV Future' styling wand.

It looks closer to the Nissan Patrol tbh

  • Where is the poll option,
World is already crowded, I don't have a big enough family for six seater ?

We stopped at three children cos there was no way I was going to drive a Tarago
      .

  • Where’s the small city/commuter sized EVs?

    • Atto3?

      • There’s a few, but not enough choice or availability.

I really want an EV as next car but unless they become significantly cheaper with better kilometre range I will just get a more affordable ICE car.

    • That's where so many people are.. question is - are they going to get significantly cheaper? Or are they near that stable range now..

      • +2

So far they seem to be focussing on ‘premium’ vehicles for EVs. Need more affordable versions, not so flash but just do the job.

How much range do you want? How often do you actually drive more than 400km at once? Don’t forget you can normally start every day with a full charge, unless you can’t charge overnight at home for some reason.

      • Yeah.. range is fine I guess as long as infra keeps improving - which it will. It's more about the value for money EVs availablity

    • MG4 coming in probably at $40k soon? There are a few little Chinese roller skates on the horizon (Otto, Dolphin) as well. I doubt you get them down to the base level Mazda 2 level, but they're starting to put pressure on the market.

      What about a second hand/ ex-demo EV?

    im sick of SUV's

    • Why don't you take something for it then? :P

    • I think it depends on the size. A small SUV is just a hatchback in high heels these days- especially the Toyota "cross" models that are legitimately just Yaris/Corolla with sharper lines. The bigger SUVs are a PITA, 4 wheel drive size with none of the off-road, blocking views on the corners and rolling if you sneeze too hard.

  • Thoughts? Looks like it was styled to suit US market
    .

  • No chance of buying it, wife likes sliding doors like on the carnival too much.

    • we have got other way round in our household.. lol. Would love a kia carnival ev.

      • Yeh hopefully they do one.
