Hey, do you mind if I ask what you need them for? As I've used really cheap sets for tight bolts on cars, or in building and they tend to break or strip. If it's for anything that requires a bit of strength I'd be getting a set of Stanly sockets. Around $60 at Supercheap when NOT on sale. Otherwise You can grab a $15 SCA brand set also at Supercheap if you don't need them to be very strong. They WILL break under stress but you should be able to refund them easily. Good luck!

  • Need them to service my car, can't find any value on ebay.
Thanks for the info, will keep an eye on the Stanley tools.

DO NOT buy cheap socket sets to do work on cars. not only will they break but they will damage the heads of the bolts making them harder/impossible for you to get off again even with decent tools, then costing you a lot of money to get them professionally removed.

if you have something like a total tools or generally any tool shop like that you can pick up something middle range which should last you a life time if you look after them and wont break when you use them or break the bank when you buy them. i have a set of kc tools brand and i have put them through hell over the 10 odd years ive had them and they are still like new, kincraft are also another mid range brand ive used hard with great success and my set of total tools branded ratchet spanners again are awesome.

"cheap" tools are a false economy. not only will you have to replace them every time you try and do a job but you will get to know the local "thread doctor" (guy you call out to remove broken studs and bolts) on a very personal basis.

    • totally agree, worst thing is when trying to unbolt and the socket cracks, you round the nut. Then spending ages trying to take it out. its happened to me at my bros house with cheap tools never again.

Best buying a basic sidchrome set from supercheap to do simple jobs, also last forever if yoy look after them.
