Funny how we get better prices than America for Samsung Monitors like this.

Smart features in this, but mini display port and mini hdmi was a stupid idea.

I've heard the worst about Samsung and Sony aftermarket support/warranty.
This is the only OLED of the 4 with the same panel that has no burn-in warranty.

Yeah I wouldn't expect much without being a bit forceful given Australia's better consumer protections….

I had very average service with swapping phones over before with their program, though eventually they acknowledged it and refunded my swap fee.

Sony I've had better with TV's. They don't get as worked up by the phony 1 year limit…

I’ve been trying to get a refund from samscum for the last two months, still haven’t received anything. I cancelled my order two days after an online purchase.

I got my LG OLED tv pannel replaced about 3 or 4 years in with zero pushback, this was a few years ago now so don't know if it's still the same.

      • Whether it be 'unofficially' from Samsung, or via Consumer Law protections, you will get burn-in coverage for 3-5 years, dependent on your sensibilities while using the technology.

  • Samsung education store around $1519.

  • I'm looking to upgrade my setup. Where's the best place to sell my old monitors?

    • +4

      These days, Facebook marketplace.

Don't expect much for monitors though, one of the largest depreciators I've had.

Cheers, I don't mind selling at a loss, I'm keeping so much of them here at home. I blame these OzB deals. Just too good.

    • +1

Yeah as above FB. Check other listings for similar, or generally undercut ebay sold items, given you aren't paying fees.

      Should sell easy that way.

Many people think their shit doesn't drop.

I list on Gumtree too for the hell of it but most sales come from FB.

  • Anyone know if there is a non-curved alternative?

    • No non-curved ultrawide OLEDs at the moment.

LG have their 27" OLED 144hz+ unit on preorder at the moment, however.

    • could consider the CORSAIR XENEON FLEX…. but it's a whopping 45"

  • Can anyone with any of the UW OLEDs (Msi, Alienware, Samsung). Speak on how they are for programming? Does text really look as bad as the reviews say?

    • I'd be very careful if primary use isn't media/gaming consumption regardless.

I actually bought this monitor which is why I posted the deal. Coming from a LG 34gk950f-b I can honestly say the supposed text fringing on this monitor is practically non existent. I've either got a great panel, the issue is overblown, or I'm blind. It was absolutely my biggest concern in buying this monitor.

In Eclipse IDE in dark mode I can start to see the text fringing if I am literally 10-15cm away from the screen. From a standard viewing distance I cannot tell it exists.

      Alienware DWF owner here,

I spend half my day in VS-Code, I dont notice it at all.

It's a hugely overblown issue imo.

I'd go the alien ware if you're on the fence though AFAIK they're the only ones with a warranty that covers burn in.

Also have this monitor (AW3423DW). Text is razor sharp, the only place I've read about supposed text clarity is online. It's absolutely perfect in person.

  • Did Dell close its eBay store? Nothing listed there

  • Any idea about a pair of good ones this size for about $600 each? Should I wait until EOFY?

    • You won't find 34" OLEDs for $600. Closest would be the Xiaomi 34" LCD which is usually under $500.

      • Xiaomi

Dell for $549 far more worth your time. Ultrawide OLED should begin to dip below $1000 this year though.

  • Could someone educate me on the refresh rates of this vs Alienware one?

I'm reading rtings reviews https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/dell-alienware-… and both have the same DisplayPort version (1.4) and apparently exactly same panel (difference being one is G-Sync the other Freesync), but for some reason the Alienware is limited to 144Hz in HDR 10-bit while the Odyssey isn't? How come? AW3423DWF is even worse at 100Hz at 10bit colour using the same standard (DP1.4)

    Weird
