first place i always check is the major airlines, sometimes they're the same price as flight aggregator sites

Fully agree. Some airlines even have a guarantee even that if it's cheaper elsewhere, they'll refund the difference. Booking with the airline has major advantages in terms of how quickly you get your ticket and how well you are informed in case your flight gets cancelled/delayed. Imo, that alone is easily worth the $20 bucks you might safe. It has cost me more to book with an aggregator site, as it took a week to find out they wouldn't give me the tickets, and prices had gone up in the mean time.

I generally check Momondo to have a quick look who offers flights around the time I need and has reasonable prices, then I go to the airline website to book it. Only if a single leg of the trip requires multiple airlines it can be worth it to book with an aggregator site (in case delays on the first flight affect the second flight).

I do another way around, aggregator sites first, then checking directly with the airline as airline cancellation policies are usually good.
eg check with webjet.com.au to see if Virgin or Qantas is cheaper than booking with the airline lol

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your search for cheap flights to X and the websites you found. Those are all popular sites for finding affordable flights. However, there are some other websites you could consider as well:

Skyscanner: This website allows you to search for flights to a specific destination, or you can browse for the cheapest flights available in a given time frame. They also offer a "everywhere" option which helps you find the cheapest flights to any destination.

Expedia: Expedia is another popular travel booking site that offers flights, hotels, car rentals and vacation packages. You can also use their "Bundle and Save" feature to save money on multiple bookings.

Kayak: Kayak is a metasearch engine that compares prices across hundreds of travel sites, including airlines, hotels, and rental cars.

I hope this helps you find a good deal on your upcoming trip!

Here are some some general tips that may help you find cheap flights to your desired destination:

Be flexible with your travel dates: If your travel dates are flexible, you can use tools like the fare calendar to compare prices across different days and find the cheapest flights.

Book in advance: Generally, booking your flights well in advance can help you get a better deal. It is recommended to book at least 3-4 weeks before your travel date.

Use price comparison sites: Price comparison sites like Kayak, Skyscanner, and Google Flights can help you compare prices across different airlines and find the cheapest flights.

Sign up for alerts: You can sign up for email alerts or push notifications from travel booking sites or airlines to get notified when prices drop or when there are special deals.

Consider alternative airports: Sometimes flying to a nearby airport can be cheaper than flying to the main airport in your destination city.

Be open to layovers: Direct flights can be more expensive than flights with layovers. If you're willing to have a layover, you may be able to save money on your flights.

I hope these tips are helpful in your search for cheap flights!

    kiwi.com
    trip.com

  • By all means check Kayak/Skyscanner etc for best pricing and routing to your destination, but unless either an OTA offers a routing you can't get through the airline itself (e.g. offering a codeshare to a better airport), or a really large discount you can understand (e.g. the airline has discounted tickets in another country but not Oz), book through the airline because if you have any issues, you don't want to have to go through the OTA (and pay fees for the privilege).

  • www.iknowthepilot.com for pricing errors.
www.iwantthatflight.com.au regularly posts sale fares on Ozbargain.
