    • Thanks! I did see this but this article from 2021 confused me :(

      https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/potentially-huge-savin…

This translates to savings of between $2000 and $3000 per vehicle, given that the current cost of a new Toyota battery pack is said to be between $8000 to $10,000, depending on the model, according to the executive general manager of IMG, Gino Ricciuti.

I would contact few dealers or techs and get few quotes?

So between $8-$10k to replace a battery from the factory is your answer. If you choose the mob in that article (aftermarket battery) it SHOULD be 60-80% of $8-$10k.

        • For $8 to $10k you can buy a nice 20 year old used Camry with low mileage

          • @cashless: 2017 …. 6 years ….$8k .. and that's for hybrid small battery. How much petrol $$$ saved for 6 years to replace $8k battery.

Imagine the cost of full EV battery. But i heard some Ozb here said battery lasts 20 years ?

            • @dcep: Yeah, but how many eneloops can you buy for $10k?

  • It's important to note that hybrid batteries are typically covered by a warranty from the manufacturer. For example, Toyota offers an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty for the hybrid battery on new Camry models. If your car is still under warranty, you may be able to have the battery replaced at no cost, or for a reduced fee.

According to this 5y/unlimited and condition apply.

      • We’ll increase the standard guarantee on your new Hybrid battery to up to 10 years as long as you undertake your annual inspection as part of routine maintenance according to the vehicle logbook. Conditions apply.

you get additional 5 years for hybrid battery
+ up to 5 Years unlimited kms, subject
to annual Hybrid Health Check 5 6

      Nice American quote there

Hybrid battery warranty is up to 10yrs/unlimited kms now, but only since 2019

      • Makes sense GPT is up to 2021

    • This one has done over 180K so I think its towards end of life and not under warranty

Why are you asking? Got a hybrid with a dead battery or looking to purchase a Camry but guessing costs of something that probably won’t be required?

    • Looking to purchase one and car has done 180+K so checking if it is worth it

I wouldn't worry too much about the battery, hybrid batteries which are regularly driven actually tend to be more healthy than those which sit unused. Failure tends to be rare, random, and based on age. If you are really worried I would get it inspected before buying.

My hybrid battery has done 330k km over 12 years and is in perfect condition.

My brother has a hybrid with a nearly dead battery. Car still works, just not quite as efficient

As has been mentioned but I'll throw in my 2 cents. On a 2017, dead cells can be replaced individually (I'm pretty sure, it's that way on other brands), so its cheaper than going for the whole battery. And that's if anything has gone wrong. I have a 2009 Prius (just under 100,000kms) and no indication of any cell death whatsoever. Friend with a 2010 Hybrid Camry is the same, car is healthy- not sure of the mileage.

Honestly, If you're on the non-plug Hybrid train, second hand Toyota is the only way to fly- literally the only things I have had go wrong was a dead 12v from lack of use over the lockdowns, the boot hydraulics being a bit vindictive and one key fob dying. Friend's Camry has had nothing mechanical go wrong at all.

$3-3500 genuine. Call your nearest dealer

But that's early for 2017. How many kms? Should be over 200,000 for it to need a battery
