Probably the best domino’s deal you can get right now. Yet still, my prevailing thought is “(profanity) domino’s”.

My thoughts exactly. Ordered at my local off the app paid and got recipient and PayPal receipt as well as money out of my account, walked to picked it up. In between staff eating in the kitchen 1 person came over to ask me what I wanted. Then another staff member told me I hadn't paid for it. I showed my proof, she continued to argue app stuffs up and I'd get my money back in an hour, then the following day then 3 days later all within a minute of her speech and wanted me to pay again but refused to provide any confirmation or receipt. Kept arguing with me. I left without food. Contacted dominoes feedback immediately and received a weak as reply and we will refund your money. No apologies or tips to stop it again. I followed up a few times with Dominoes and they never respond. Last time I eat the crap.

Whelp. Hopefully an atypical experience. But my comment was more in regards to their price rises and “deals” they keep pushing. They’re treating the Aus public like a frog in a heating pot of water.

There's more noticeable inflation across the world; there's an economically significant war going on (with all the respect to other terrible wars that are happening right now) and there's pretty high political tension. All fuel prices went up, so energy in general is more expensive; prices - in general - go up. AUD-USD parity has been gone for 10 years (remember the good times?); Euro has also been doing better than Aussie currency.

Yet some OzB members feel targetted by HJ, Domino's, whatever have you, that their prices went up a little (more in terms of %, alright), while those new prices are still nowhere near the prices at your fav non-evil-chain restaurant, food truck, food fest.

Where's the logic here? Are people seriously abandoning the $6 value range to get a $15-20 woodfired margharitas/pepperonis weekly instead? Well, that's not bad, but really, really expensive for a change.

          • @pizzaguy: My locals have also raised their prices - but not just $1 or $2, they've raised them $4-$6. So Dominos Pizza is still close to 1/3 the price (going off the value max range $8)

          • @pizzaguy: Your numbers are WAY off. You can still get highly competitive $5 meals at HJs (actually, bizarrely, a whole (profanity) range of them as part of the permanent menu, plus a bunch of rotating $5 deals), KFC are currently running their $4.95 fill up (which, you can also get a free 600mL drink with if you know what you’re doing). MiccyD’s gave up the ghost on value ages ago, but the newish points system is actually way more consumer friendly than the old one, so I’m giving them kudos there. Domino’s on the other hand, not only have jacked their pricing, but the new structure is bordering on a switch and bait with the value/“value max”/traditional system.

And cry me a river re: inflation. Studies are showing that multinational profiteering is making up approximately half of current inflation figures.

          • @pizzaguy: You probably didn't notice that whilst the price went up, the size of Domino's pizza was reduced over the years. Their large size pizza is about the same as small in many other pizza shops.

            • @bob19: Soo I'm responding to everyone here to say the last night I refrained from ordering at my local, because it's now $7 for Value range (across the town) and they also didn't accept Tuesday's 2 for 1 deal ;)

I started making pizza at home during lockdown, and now I can't go back. It's actually one of the easiest foods to make from scratch, and each pizza needs perhaps $1 of ingredients.

    Here's the recipe I use:

Really, I promise, it's easier than it seems.

Everyone to their taste and level of enthusiasm (and availability of spare time to cook).

IMO if your dough doesn't rest for hours and your oven doesn't go 300+ degrees, you're baking some (nice) home-made pies not pizzas really. I occasionally grab a bag of Lebanese bread and make "pizzas" on it under the broiler. Now that's easy.
